S9 (ZVV)
The S9 is a regional railway line of the S-Bahn Zürich on the Zürcher Verkehrsverbund (ZVV), Zürich transportation network, and is one of the network's lines connecting the cantons of Zürich and Schaffhausen in Switzerland. Between the two Swiss cantons, the line also serves two stations in Germany. Eglisau Railway Bridge
The Eglisau railway bridge, or ''Eisenbahnbrücke Eglisau'', is a single-track railway bridge which carries the Eglisau-Neuhausen railway line, Eglisau to Neuhausen line across the Rhine in Switzerland. Both ends of the bridge lie within the Eglisau, municipality of Eglisau and the canton of Zurich. Technical Details The bridge was built between the years of 1895 and 1897 by the Swiss Northeastern Railway at a cost of 980,000 Swiss francs. The bridge has a total length of and has a height of above river level. The principal span comprises a long and high iron truss bridge. Several natural stone masonry approaches with piers up to 50m in height lead to the bridge from the north and south of the steel truss. The original carriageway, consisting of a ballasted track on Zores iron profiles, was replaced by a steel trough with ballast in 1982/1983. Rafz is a railway station in the Swiss canton of Zürich and municipality of Rafz. The station is located on the Eglisau to Neuhausen line of the Swiss Federal Railway (SBB) that crosses the international border twice on its route between the Swiss cantons of Zürich and Schaffhausen. The station is operated by the SBB and is served by Zurich S-Bahn line S9 that provides a half-hourly service between Zürich and Rafz, with alternate trains continuing to Schaffhausen. Lottstetten is a municipality in the district of Waldshut in Baden-Württemberg in Germany. History In 1806 Lottstetten became part of Baden. From 1840 until 1935, the territory of Lottstetten together with Altenburg, Jestetten and what was then Dettighofen, was part of the region which formed a customs exclusion zone and was not part of the German customs area. Jestetten Railway Station
Jestetten is a railway station in the German state of Baden-Württemberg and municipality of Jestetten. Special situation Despite its location in Germany, the station is located on the Eglisau to Neuhausen line of the Swiss Federal Railway (SBB) that crosses the Germany–Switzerland border twice on its route between the Swiss cantons of Zurich and Schaffhausen. Jestetten is one of only two Swiss operated stations located entirely within Germany, the other being Lottstetten. Until December 2010 a third station was stil in operation, namely Altenburg-Rheinau, located in Altenburg, part of Jesttetten, close to the border with Neuhausen am Rheinfall, Switzerland, however despite protests from the German authorities, the station was closed by the Swiss due to low passenger numbers.
