S. M. H. Burney
Sayed Muzaffar Hussain Burney (14 August 1924 – 7 February 2014) was a civil servant, governor of the states of Tripura, Nagaland, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh and a chairman of the National Minorities Commission. Burney was an alumnus of the Bareilly College in Uttar Pradesh. He was an officer of the Indian Administrative Service of the Orissa cadre where he went on to become the chief secretary of the state. He served as Home Secretary to the Government of India from February 1980 to August 1981. Between 1981 and 1984, he served as the governor of Nagaland, Tripura and Manipur and from 1987 to 1988, as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh and Haryana. He was also a member and later chairman of the Fourth and Fifth Minority Commissions from 1988 to 1992 and was the chancellor of the Jamia Millia Islamia University Jamia Millia Islamia () is a central university located in New Delhi, India. Jamia Millia Islamia () is a central university located in New Delhi, India. Originally established at Aligarh, United Provinces (present-day Uttar Pradesh, India) during the British Raj in 1920, it moved to its current location in Okhla in 1935. It was given the deemed status by University Grants Commission in 1962. On 26 December 1988, it became a central university. The foundation committee of the university included Abdul Bari Firangi Mahali, Hussain Ahmad Madani, Muhammad Iqbal, Sanaullah Amritsari, Syed Mehmood and others. Its foundation stone was laid by Mahmud Hasan Deobandi, the leader of Silk Letter Movement and the first student of Darul Uloom Deoband. Muhammad Ali Jauhar served as its first vice-chancellor from 1920 to 1923, and Hakim Ajmal Khan served as the first chancellor from 1920 to 1927. This is a list of governors of Himachal Pradesh. Sh. Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar is the 21st governor (30th if governors with additional charge also counted) of Himachal Pradesh since July 2021. Tripura
Tripura (, Bengali: ) is a state in Northeast India. The third-smallest state in the country, it covers ; and the seventh-least populous state with a population of 36.71 lakh ( 3.67 million).
