Ryan Benesch
Ryan Benesch (born January 30, 1985) is a Canadian professional lacrosse player who plays for the Albany FireWolves in the National Lacrosse League. Benesch has also played for the Halifax Thunderbirds, Colorado Mammoth, Buffalo Bandits, Minnesota Swarm, Edmonton Rush, Toronto Rock, and Panther City LC and was the 2011 NLL scoring leader. Benesch was born in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Professional career Benesch was drafted first overall by the San Jose Stealth in the 2006 NLL entry draft, but was traded to Toronto Rock along with Chad Thompson and Kevin Fines for 2005 NLL MVP Colin Doyle. Benesch played his minor lacrosse in Kitchener-Waterloo as well as his Junior 'A' lacrosse. He is currently the second leading scorer all-time in Kitchener-Waterloo Braves history behind Colin Doyle. Albany FireWolves
The Albany FireWolves are a professional box lacrosse team based in Albany, New York. They are members of the East Division of the National Lacrosse League that began play in the 2021-22 season at the MVP Arena. The team is owned by a group headed by former NLL player Oliver Marti. The team relocated from Uncasville, Connecticut, where they were known as the New England Black Wolves. The Black Wolves themselves were a relocation of the Philadelphia Wings. This is also the second National Lacrosse League franchise in Albany after the Albany Attack, who played from 2000-2003 before relocating to San Jose where they were known as the San Jose Stealth. Panther City Lacrosse Club
The Panther City Lacrosse Club is a box lacrosse team in the National Lacrosse League. They have played at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas since their inaugural 2021–2022 season. History On July 22, 2020, the NLL awarded an expansion franchise to the city of Fort Worth and owner Bill Cameron. It was announced that the team would begin play in the 2021–2022 season, with its home arena being Dickies Arena. The team branding was revealed on November 17, 2020, at a Dickies Arena press conference. The franchise officially became the Panther City Lacrosse Club, becoming the league's first member to use the "Lacrosse Club" moniker, similar to teams in the Premier Lacrosse League. OLA Junior A Lacrosse League
The Ontario Junior Lacrosse League (OJLL) is considered the most competitive Junior A men's box lacrosse league in the world and the number one source for talent for the National Lacrosse League (NLL). The OJLL is sanctioned by the Ontario Lacrosse Association. It is an 11 team league wherein the top 8 go to the playoffs and battle it out for top spot in Ontario. The National Lacrosse League expansion draft is a meeting where the general managers of expansion National Lacrosse League teams begin to fill their teams with unprotected players from the rosters of existing NLL teams. Such a draft occurs whenever an expansion NLL franchise is awarded. The most recent expansion draft was in 2022 for the Las Vegas Desert Dogs. Andrew Watt (lacrosse)
Andrew Watt (born January 9, 1984) is a Canadian professional lacrosse player for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League and the Peterborough Lakers of Major Series Lacrosse. Born in Kitchener, Ontario, Watt began his career with the hometown Kitchener-Waterloo Braves of the Ontario Junior A Lacrosse League, with whom he played from 2001 to 2005. Watt was eventually called up to the Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks, and has also played for the Six Nations Chiefs before continuing his MSL career with the Lakers. Derek Suddons
Derek Suddons (born October 6, 1978) is a professional lacrosse player who most recently played for the New England Black Wolves of the National Lacrosse League and the Brooklin Redmen of Major Series Lacrosse. A member of the 1997 and 1999 Minto Cup winning Whitby Warriors club, Suddons played lacrosse collegiality for the University of Hartford Hawks. He was drafted by the Columbus Landsharks in the first round of the 2001 NLL Entry Draft, and has since enjoyed a lengthy career in the NLL. Suddons began his NLL career in the 2001 with the beleaguered Columbus Landsharks. When the Landsharks moved to Phoenix, Arizona, becoming the Arizona Sting, Suddons opted to sign with the Toronto Rock so that he could be closer to his Whitby, Ontario hometown. Colin "Popeye" Doyle (born September 8, 1977) is a Canadian former professional lacrosse player and captain for the Toronto Rock of the National Lacrosse League and the Six Nations Chiefs of Major Series Lacrosse. National Lacrosse League (NLL) career Doyle was born in Kitchener, Ontario. He began his NLL career in 1998, playing for Ontario Raiders. He scored 34 goals and 27 assists, leading the Raiders in scoring. He was named NLL Rookie of the Year.
