Albany FireWolves
The Albany FireWolves are a professional box lacrosse team based in Albany, New York. They are members of the East Division of the National Lacrosse League that began play in the 2021-22 season at the MVP Arena. The team is owned by a group headed by former NLL player Oliver Marti. The team relocated from Uncasville, Connecticut, where they were known as the New England Black Wolves. The Black Wolves themselves were a relocation of the Philadelphia Wings. This is also the second National Lacrosse League franchise in Albany after the Albany Attack, who played from 2000-2003 before relocating to San Jose where they were known as the San Jose Stealth. The team was officially named the FireWolves on April 14, 2021 after an online naming contest was held. The final three names considered were Attack, FireWolves and Black Arrows. National Lacrosse League
The National Lacrosse League (NLL) is a men's professional box lacrosse league in North America. The league is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Albany Attack
The Albany Attack was the name of a franchise which played in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) from the 2000 NLL season, 2000 season through the 2003 NLL season, 2003 season. The Attack played in the former Pepsi Arena in Albany, New York (now known as the Times Union Center). After the 2003 season, the franchise was sold and moved to San Jose, California and renamed the San Jose Stealth. The current incarnation of the franchise, now owned by Canucks Sports & Entertainment, is the Vancouver Warriors. The 2022 National Lacrosse League season, formally known as the 2021–2022 season, is the 35th in the history of the NLL. The Stony Brook Seawolves are the athletic teams of Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York, United States. The school competes at the Division I level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association and joined the all-sports Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) on July 1, 2022 after having been a member of the CAA's technically separate football arm of CAA Football since 2013. San Jose Stealth
The San Jose Stealth were a member of the National Lacrosse League, the professional box lacrosse league of North America from 2004 NLL season, 2004 until 2009 NLL season, 2009. They played at the HP Pavilion at San Jose, which is also the home of the National Hockey League, NHL's San Jose Sharks and the Arena Football League (1987–2008), AFL's San Jose SaberCats. Philadelphia Wings (1987–2014)
The Philadelphia Wings were a member of the National Lacrosse League, a professional box lacrosse league in North America starting in 1987. They played at the Spectrum (1987–96) and then at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Wings were one of the four original teams in the Eagle Pro Box Lacrosse League that began play in 1987 and the only team to reclaim its identity from the original 1974–75 National Lacrosse League and also retained the first Philadelphia Wings logo. The Eagle Pro Box Lacrosse League was renamed the Major Indoor Lacrosse League in 1989, and again to the National Lacrosse League in 1998. The MVP Arena (originally Knickerbocker Arena, and then the Pepsi Arena and Times Union Center) is an indoor arena located in Albany, New York. It is configurable and can accommodate from 6,000 to 17,500 people, with a maximum seating capacity of 15,500 for sporting events.
