National Lacrosse League Weekly Awards
In the 1994 MILL season, 1994 season, the National Lacrosse League (then called the Major Indoor Lacrosse League) began naming a ''Player of the Week''. The first recipient was Buffalo Bandits legend John Tavares (lacrosse player), John Tavares. In 2002 NLL season, 2002, the league renamed the award to ''Overall Player of the Week'', and added weekly awards for ''Offensive Player of the Week'', ''Defensive Player of the Week'', and ''Rookie of the Week''. In 2007 NLL season, 2007, another new award was added, ''Transition Player of the Week''. Current awards Players listed in ''italics'' are retired. Number of awards is up to and including the 2008 NLL season. Colin "Popeye" Doyle (born September 8, 1977) is a Canadian former professional lacrosse player and captain for the Toronto Rock of the National Lacrosse League and the Six Nations Chiefs of Major Series Lacrosse. National Lacrosse League (NLL) career Doyle was born in Kitchener, Ontario. He began his NLL career in 1998, playing for Ontario Raiders. He scored 34 goals and 27 assists, leading the Raiders in scoring. He was named NLL Rookie of the Year. In 1999, the Raiders moved to Toronto, becoming the Toronto Rock, where they won their first of 6 NLL Championships. Brandon Miller (born May 4, 1979, in Orangeville, Ontario) is a former goaltender who most recently played for the Toronto Rock in the National Lacrosse League, and the Six Nations Chiefs and, formerly, the Brampton Excelsiors in the Ontario Lacrosse Association's Major Series. He has won four Mann Cups, two with each of the Chiefs and Excelsiors. Pat Campbell (lacrosse)
Pat Campbell (born April 28, 1977 in Niagara Falls, Ontario) is a former professional indoor lacrosse goaltender who played for the Toronto Rock, Columbus Landsharks, Rochester Knighthawks, Calgary Roughnecks, and Edmonton Rush in the National Lacrosse League. In his NLL career, he won the Champion's Cup three times with the Rock (1999, 2000, 2011) and once with the Roughnecks (2009). He was also the goalie for Brock University and won four straight Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association championships. In 2007, Campbell was diagnosed with Crohn's disease, which caused him to miss half of the NLL season. Rob Blasdell
Rob "Blazer" Blasdell (born May 15, 1970) is a lacrosse goaltender who plays for the Edmonton Rush in the National Lacrosse League. Professional career Blasdell began his career with the Ontario Raiders in 1998, moving with them to Toronto the next year. After being left unprotected by the Rock, Blasdell was selected by the expansion Albany Attack in the 1999 expansion draft. Blasdell played four seasons in Albany, and was named NLL Goaltender of the Year in 2002 when he led the Attack to the NLL finals. The Attack moved to San Jose before the 2004 season and Blasdell played in all 16 games that season, but after a blockbuster trade brought goaltender Anthony Cosmo to San Jose in the summer of 2004, Blasdell served as a backup for Cosmo for the 2005 season. Gordon "Gee" Nash (born January 17, 1978 in Ajax, Ontario) is a retired professional lacrosse goaltender, who last played with the Toronto Rock of the National Lacrosse League. Nash played four seasons with the New York Saints before they disbanded after the 2003 NLL season. He was subsequently signed by the Colorado Mammoth, where he played six seasons before retiring in 2009.
