1993 MILL Season
The 1993 Major Indoor Lacrosse League season is the 7th season of the league that began on January 9, 1993, and concluded with the championship game on April 10. 1993 saw the only undefeated season in the history of the MILL/NLL; the Buffalo Bandits won all eight of their regular season games, then defeated Boston in the Divisional finals and Philadelphia in the Championship game to finish with a perfect 10-0 record. National Lacrosse League
The National Lacrosse League (NLL) is a men's professional box lacrosse league in North America. The league is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The NLL currently has fifteen teams: ten in the United States and five in Canada. The NLL ranks third in average attendance for pro indoor sports worldwide, behind only the NHL and NBA. Unlike other box lacrosse leagues which play in the summer, the NLL plays its games in the winter and spring, from December to June. Each year, the playoff teams battle for the National Lacrosse League Cup. The NLL has averaged between 8,900 and 10,700 spectators per game each year since 2004. John Tavares (lacrosse Player)
John Tavares (born September 4, 1968, in Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadian former professional box lacrosse player and current head coach of the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). He is the NLL's all-time leading scorer and also a mathematics teacher at Philip Pocock Catholic Secondary School in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. He attended D'Youville College in Buffalo, New York. Tavares played his entire National Lacrosse League (NLL) career with the Buffalo Bandits, starting in their inaugural season in 1992. He was acquired from the Detroit Turbos in exchange for Brian Nikula in October 1991. Tavares was also the Professional Lacrosse Players' Association representative for the Bandits. Tavares is the NLL's all-time leader in games played (306), goals (815), assists (934), and points (1,749). His 2,191 loose balls recovered is the second most all-time. Sal LoCascio
Sal LoCascio (born April 6, 1967) is an American former professional lacrosse goaltender and coach who played the majority of his career for the New York Saints of the National Lacrosse League. He also played one season with the Long Island Lizards of Major League Lacrosse, and later served as the head coach of the MLL’s Bridgeport/Philadelphia Barrage LoCascio is one of the few lacrosse players, and one of the only goaltenders to achieve success in both box and field lacrosse. Today, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest lacrosse goaltenders of all time. John Tucker (lacrosse)
John Tucker is a retired American professional lacrosse player, and former head coach of the Boston Cannons and Atlanta Blaze of the now defunct MLL. He was also the head coach of the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League. He was elected into the National Lacrosse League Hall of Fame in 2010 and into the National Lacrosse Hall of Famee in 2016. Playing career Tucker began his lacrosse playing career in ninth grade, joining the junior league team at Archbishop Curley High School under Coach Joe D'Adamo. He was a freshman and sophomore on the team during the school's 1976 and 1977 championship seasons, and he graduated from Curley in 1979. Derek Keenan
Derek Keenan (born October 2, 1961, in Oshawa, Ontario) is a former lacrosse player, and current head coach and general manager of the Saskatchewan Rush of the National Lacrosse League. Keenan has won the NLL GM of the Year award and the Les Bartley Award for Coach of the Year three times each; he won both awards in 2006, 2010, and 2014 though he shared the 2010 Bartley Award with Chris Hall. Thomas Carmean
Thomas Carmean is the assistant coach of the Boys' NCAA lacrosse team at Keene State College in New Hampshire. Carmean is the former Guilford College Men's Lacrosse Team, a lacrosse alumnus of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a former player for the Boston Blazers, New York Saints and Bridgeport Barrage, He is an inductee of the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame, New England Chapter. He coached at Amherst College from 2000 through 2010 and was named the head men's lacrosse at Guilford College on June 2, 2010. Carmean Was named assistant coach of the Keene State Owls in 2022. Dallas Eliuk
Dallas Eliuk (born November 4, 1964 in Vancouver, British Columbia) is a former goaltender and assistant coach in the National Lacrosse League. Upon his retirement from play, Eliuk coached one season with the Portland LumberJax and two with the Colorado Mammoth. Dallas played for 18 years, 15 seasons for the Philadelphia Wings before being traded to the LumberJax (per his request), where he played for three seasons. Eliuk won four championships with the Wings, two championship MVP awards, was named to the All-Pro team nine times, and retired as the league's all-time leader in saves. Because of his success, his longevity, and unparalleled acrobatic athleticism, he is considered a legend in indoor lacrosse, and widely regarded as the best goalie to ever to play the game. Jim Veltman
James Edward "Scoop" Veltman (born March 8, 1966) is a Canadian former lacrosse player who played for the Toronto Rock, the Ontario Raiders, and the Buffalo Bandits in the National Lacrosse League. Veltman won three NLL championships with the Bandits and then five more with the Rock, where he was captain for ten seasons. He currently serves as the general manager of the New York Riptide. Dave Pietramala
Dave Pietramala (born 1967) is the defensive coordinator for the Syracuse University Men's Lacrosse team and the former head coach for the Johns Hopkins University Men's Lacrosse team. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest defensemen in lacrosse history, and is a member of the U.S. Lacrosse Hall of Fame. He is the only person to win a men's lacrosse NCAA national championship as both a player and coach, and the only person to be named both player and coach of the year. Gary Gait
Gary Charles Gait (born April 5, 1967) is a Canadian retired Hall of Fame professional lacrosse player and currently the head coach of the men’s lacrosse team at Syracuse University, where he played the sport collegiately. On January 24, 2017, he was named the Interim Commissioner of the United Women's Lacrosse League. He played collegiately for the Syracuse Orange men's lacrosse team and professionally in the indoor National Lacrosse League and the outdoor MLL, while representing Canada at the international level.
