Rugby Sevens At The 2023 Pan American Games
Rugby sevens competitions at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile were held between November 3 and 4, 2023 at the Estadio Municipal de La Pintana in the commune of La Pintana. A total of eight men's and eight women's teams (each consisting up to 12 athletes) competed in each tournament. This means a total of 192 athletes were scheduled to compete. Qualification Eight men's teams and eight women's teams qualified to compete at the games in each tournament. The host nation (Chile) received automatic qualification in both tournaments, along with seven other teams. Estadio Municipal De La Pintana
Estadio Municipal de La Pintana is a multi-use stadium in La Pintana, Santiago, Chile. It is used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Santiago Morning and former home stadium for Deportes Pintana. The stadium holds 5,000 people. 2022 RAN Women's Super Sevens
The 2022 Rugby Americas North Women's Super Sevens was a North American rugby sevens tournament that took place at the Estadio Alfredo Harp Helú, Mexico City on November 12–13, 2022. Six teams participated in the tournament. Mexico defeated Jamaica 33–12 in the final and qualified for the 2023 World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series. Marcos Moneta (born 7 March 2000) is an Argentine rugby sevens player. He made his debut appearance at the Olympics representing Argentina at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Moneta received World Rugby's Men’s Sevens Player of the Year award for 2021. Alejo Lavayen
Alejandro de Vivar (1635–1660), better known as Mestizo Alejo, was a Chilean mestizo, who fought in the Arauco War. He was the son of the Mapuche cacique Curivilú and the Spanish Isabel de Vivar y Castro who was captured during a Mapuche raid. Isabel and Alejo were rescued five years later and rejoined the Spanish society. Alejo enlisted the Spanish army, but the system of castas prevented his promotion. As a result, he deserted from the Spanish army and joined the Mapuches, being appointed toqui. Santiago Álvarez Fourcade (born 17 January 1994) is an Argentine professional rugby union footballer who plays as a centre for Argentina club CASI.
