Rudolph Grossman
Rudolph Grossman (July 24, 1867 – September 22, 1927) was an Austrian-born Jewish-American rabbi. Life Grossman was born on July 24, 1867 in Vienna, Austria, the son of Rabbi Ignaz Grossmann and Nettie Rosenbaum. His brother was Rabbi Louis Grossmann. Grossman immigrated to America as a child and attended school in Brooklyn and Chicago. The son and brother of rabbis, he entered Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati, Ohio when he was fourteen and studied under its founder Isaac M. Wise. He graduated from there in 1889 at the top of his class and as its valedictorian, and he received a D.D. from there in 1892. In 1889, he also graduated from, at the top of his class, the University of Cincinnati with an B.L. He became associate rabbi of Temple Beth-El in New York City, New York in 1889. Isaac Landman
Isaac Landman (October 24, 1880 – September 4, 1946) was an American Reform rabbi, author and anti-Zionist activist. He was editor of the ten volume '' Universal Jewish Encyclopedia''. Biography Landman was born in Russia on October 4, 1880, to Ada and Louis Landman. He emigrated to the United States in 1890. He graduated from the Reform Hebrew Union College. In 1911, with the assistance of Jacob Schiff, Julius Rosenwald, and Simon Bamberger, he founded a Jewish farm colony in Utah. In 1913 he married Beatrice Eschner. During World War I he was "said to be the first Jewish chaplain in the United States Army to serve on foreign soil". He was a leader in Jewish–Christian ecumenism. Stephen Samuel Wise (March 17, 1874 – April 19, 1949) was an early 20th-century American Reform rabbi and Zionist leader in the Progressive Era. Born in Budapest, he was an infant when his family immigrated to New York. He followed his father and grandfather in becoming a rabbi, serving in New York and in Portland, Oregon. Wise was also a founding member of the NAACP. Early life Wise was born on March 17, 1874, in Budapest in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the son and grandson of rabbis and their wives. The New York Board of Rabbis is an organization of Orthodox, Reform, Conservative and Reconstructionist rabbis in New York State and the surrounding portions of Connecticut and New Jersey. The roots of the New York Board of Rabbis date to 1881 with the establishment of the New York Board of Jewish Ministers by Rabbis Gustav Gottheil, Adolph Huebsch, Henry S. Jacobs, Kaufmann Kohler, Frederick de Sola Mendes and Abraham Pereira Mendes, who came from differing branches of Judaism, hoping to work together to foster Jewish education and advance Judaism.
