Royal Mountain Records is a Canadian independent record label and artist-management company, based in Toronto, Canada. The Royal Mountain roster currently consists of more than 30 active artists including Alvvays, Mac DeMarco, and U.S. Girls. Their alumni include PUP, Orville Peck and White Reaper. History Founded in 2009 by Hollerado front man Menno Versteeg and Adam “Bix” Berger, the label was originally intended as a means to self release Hollerado's debut '' Record in a Bag'' (RMR-001). It soon became a platform to launch the careers of other local Toronto artists such as PUP and Alvvays. Upon the success of these releases, the label signed international acts such as Mac DeMarco, Metz and U.S. Girls, while continuing to support local artists such as Calpurnia and Dizzy. Recent additions to the Royal Mountain roster include Shady Nasty, Bad Waitress, Ellis, KOKOKO!, Nap Eyes, and Wolf Parade. Islands (band)
Islands is a Canadian indie rock band from Montreal, Quebec. The group was founded in 2005 by Nicholas Thorburn and Jamie Thompson, shortly after the breakup of The Unicorns, of which both were members. Their current lineup includes Thorburn, often known by his stage name Nick Diamonds, along with brothers Evan Gordon and Geordie Gordon, and Adam Halferty. Homeshake
Homeshake (stylized as HOMESHAKE) is the solo musical project of Montreal-based singer-songwriter and musician Peter Sagar. Featuring contributions from Mark Goetz, Greg Napier, and Brad Loughead, the project started in 2012. In 2014, he left Mac DeMarco's live band to focus on the Homeshake project; Fixture Records released his debut cassette, ''The Homeshake Tape'', in January 2013 with a second, titled ''Dynamic Meditation'' released in October 2013. This was followed by his debut full-length album, ''In the Shower'' (2014) and his second album, ''Midnight Snack'' (2015). His third album under the project, ''Fresh Air'' was released in 2017. Gulfer
Gulfer is a Canadian rock band from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. They formed in 2011 and are composed of David Mitchell (bass/vocals), Vincent Ford (vocals/guitar), Joe Therriault (guitar/vocals) and Julien Daoust (drums). Their sound makes use of odd time signatures, tapping, clean guitar tones, shifting tonal dynamics, and introspective lyrics. Brigitte Naggar, better known by her stage name Common Holly, is a Canadian musician from Montreal, Quebec. As Common Holly, Naggar has released two full-length albums. History Naggar's first album, ''Playing House'', was released in 2017. The album was originally self-released on Bandcamp, before later being widely released by Solitaire Recordings. Cartel Madras is a Canadian hip hop duo from Calgary, Alberta, consisting of sisters Bhagya "Eboshi" Ramesh and Priya "Contra" Ramesh. Anemone (band)
Anemone is a psychedelic pop quintet, styled "ANEMONE" and mispronounced, which formed in Montreal, Quebec in September 2015. Named after the song "Anemone" by The Brian Jonestown Massacre, it is fronted by the pianist and singer Chloé Soldevila, a Montreal native with classical training in the flute and piano. The band's compositions feature both baroque influences and counter melody. Their line-up was Soldevila, drummer Miles Dupire-Gagnon (also of Elephant Stone), guitarist Gabriel Lambert, bass guitarist Samuel Gemme, and guitarist and backing vocalist Zach Irving, who left the band in 2020.
