''New Musical Express'' (''NME'') is a British music, film, gaming and culture website, bimonthly magazine, and brand. Founded as a newspaper in 1952, with the publication being referred to as a "Rock music, rock inkie", the ''NME'' would become a magazine that ended up as a free publication as well as a webzine, and the brand has also been used for their NME Awards show, the NME Tours and the former NME Radio station. As a "rock inkie", ''NME'' was the first British newspaper to include a Single (music), singles Record chart, chart, adding that feature in the edition of 14 November 1952. The ''NME'' Tours consist of a variety of tours organised by United Kingdom, British music industry publication ''NME''. NME Radio
The Music Machine (TMM) is a pair of British radio stations that broadcast an alternative music format. It is owned and operated by Sammy Jacob, founder of the original Radio X (United Kingdom), XFM. The station dates back to NME Radio which broadcast from 2008 to 2013 under branding of the popular music publication ''NME''. It relaunched in 2018 under ''NME'' branding before renaming to TMM in 2023. The two channels, TMM 1 and TMM 2, are broadcast 24/7 and can be received online via TuneIn or through the TMM website, and on Digital Audio Broadcasting, DAB locally in Norwich and in parts of London. The ''NME'' Awards is an annual music awards show in the United Kingdom, founded by the music magazine ''NME'' (''New Musical Express''). The first awards show was held in 1953 as the ''NME'' Poll Winners Concerts, shortly after the founding of the magazine. The Last Dinner Party are a British indie rock band from London, formed in 2021. The band consists of Abigail Morris (vocals), Lizzie Mayland (vocals, guitar), Emily Roberts (lead guitar, mandolin, flute), Georgia Davies (bass) and Aurora Nishevci (keyboards, vocals). Julie Burchill (born 3 July 1959) is an English writer. Beginning as a staff writer at the ''New Musical Express'' at the age of 17, she has since contributed to newspapers such as ''The Daily Telegraph'', ''The Sunday Times'' and ''The Guardian''. Her writing, which was described by John Arlidge in ''The Observer'' in 2002 as "outrageously outspoken" and "usually offensive," has been the subject of legal action. Paul Morley
Paul Robert Morley (born 26 March 1957) is a British music journalist. He wrote for the ''New Musical Express'' from 1977 to 1983, and has since written for a wide range of publications and written his own books. He was a co-founder of the record label ZTT Records and was a member of the synthpop group Art of Noise. He has also been a band manager, promoter, and television presenter. Early life Paul Robert Morley was born on 26 March 1957 in Farnham, Surrey, and moved with his family to Reddish, Lancashire, before starting school. Tony Victor Parsons (born 6 November 1953) is an English journalist, broadcaster, and author. He began his career as a music journalist for ''New Musical Express'' (''NME''), writing about punk music. Later he wrote for ''The Daily Telegraph'', before going on to write for the ''Daily Mirror'' for 18 years. Since September 2013, Parsons has written a column for ''The Sun''.
