Route 52 is a bus route operated by the Maryland Transit Administration in Baltimore and its suburbs. The line is a dedicated service for employees of Stella Maris, a complex of long term care facilities in Timonium, Maryland. Route 52 replaced Route 12 under BaltimoreLink. History Route 52 was formed in 2005 as Route 12 as replacement for the Stella Maris branch of Route 8, which was discontinued as a part of the Greater Baltimore Bus Initiative. The branch, along with all other special branches of Route 8, were proposed for total elimination with no replacement under the original GBBI plans. But due to public outcry, service to Stella Maris was retained by MTA on the new Route 12 that operated back then out of the Lutherville Light Rail Stop at the same times these trips were previously provided on the Route 8. CityLink Gold is a bus route operated by the Maryland Transit Administration in Baltimore. It replaced Route 13 in 2017. The line currently runs from Walbrook Junction in West Baltimore (the intersection of North Avenue, Hilton Street, and Bloomingdale Road) to Canton, mostly along North Avenue. The line has two main branches, both operating to Canton: one that operates via Fells Point (these buses are marked ''Fells Point'') and the other via Linwood and East Streets (these buses are marked ''Canton''). Both these branches serve Johns Hopkins Hospital. Additionally, selected trips on weekdays and Saturdays operate to the block of Milton Avenue, Federal Street, and Patterson Park Avenue. Cockeysville, Maryland
Cockeysville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. The population was 20,776 at the 2010 census. History Cockeysville was named after the Cockey family who helped establish the town. Thomas Cockey (1676–1737) settled in Limestone Valley in 1725 at Taylor's Hall (an area now just north of Padonia Road and east of Interstate 83). Joshua Frederick Cockey (1765–1821) built one of the first homes in the area in 1798 and built the first commercial structure, a hotel, in 1810 in what would become the village of Cockeysville. His son, Judge Joshua F. Cockey (1800–1891), was a lifelong resident in the village. As a businessman before being appointed as judge, in the 1830s he built the train station (which would be a stop on the Pennsylvania Railroad) and accompanying commercial buildings. Maryland Route 146
Maryland Route 146 (MD 146) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The state highway runs from MD 45 in Towson north to MD 23 near Jarrettsville. MD 146 connects Towson with Loch Raven Reservoir, an impoundment of Gunpowder Falls. The state highway also serves the northern Baltimore County community of Jacksonville and Jarrettsville in western Harford County. MD 146 was constructed as two different state highways on either side of Loch Raven Reservoir. The section of the state highway in Towson was built in the 1910s and the portion through Jacksonville to Jarrettsville was constructed in the late 1920s and early 1930s. The gap in MD 146 through Loch Raven Reservoir was filled in two steps of maintenance swaps in the early 1960s and late 1970s. Lutherville Light Rail Stop
Lutherville station is a Baltimore Light Rail station located in Lutherville, Maryland. Like most suburban stations on the system, it has two side platforms serving the line's two tracks. It opened in 1992 as part of the initial operating segment. History The Northern Central Railway stopped at Lutherville until local services ceased around 1959. The former station building is still extant. Prior to the opening of the light rail system, the current parking lot was a park-and-ride lot with express bus service. In July 2009, two teenage boys were struck by a light rail train near Lutherville station. The boys were likely unaware of single-tracking, which caused a train to come from the opposite direction than they would have expected. The Greater Baltimore Bus Initiative (GBBI) (pronounced ''GIBBY'') was a sweeping overhaul planned by the Maryland Transit Administration under the administration of then-Maryland Governor Robert Ehrlich and his transportation secretary Robert Flanagan that was said to be the largest single-phase overhaul in the history of the agency and its parent companies. Timonium is a census-designated place (CDP) in Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 9,926. Prior to 2010 the area was part of the Lutherville-Timonium CDP.
