Ross Jenkins (footballer Born 1951)
Ross Anthony Jenkins (born 4 November 1951 in Kensington, London) is an English retired footballer, who played as a forward. He started his career at Crystal Palace, before spending eleven years with Watford. He played for the club whilst they were both bottom and top of The Football League.Jones, p 131 Playing career Jenkins became an apprentice at Crystal Palace in July 1968, signing professional terms in November 1969. In November 1972 he was bought by Watford manager George Kirby for a then club-record fee of £30,000 initially, with £5000 to come a year later.Phillips, p 183Phillips, p 186 Kirby had made a series of unsuccessful bids for other players before signing Jenkins. Ross Jenkins (footballer Born 1990)
Ross Aden Jenkins (born 9 November 1990) is an English former professional footballer who played as a central midfielder. He is currently head coach of National League South club Oxford City. Jenkins is the second player with his name to have played competitive football for Watford. He is no relation to the Ross Jenkins who played for Watford from 1972 to 1983, and was a two-time Watford Player of the Season. Career Jenkins was born in Watford and began a two-year academy scholarship with Watford in summer 2007. During the 2007–08 season he played regularly in the club's under-18 side, as well as appearing for the reserves. After appearing frequently for Watford's first team during the 2008 pre-season, he made his competitive debut on 12 August 2008 whilst still an academy scholar. David Thomas Bassett (born 4 September 1944 in Stanmore) is an English football manager and a former player. During his career he has managed Wimbledon, Watford, Sheffield United, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Barnsley, Leicester City and Southampton. Playing career As a player Bassett was a defensive midfielder at semi-professional level, playing for Hayes between 1961 and 1963, returning to the club on two occasions from 1964 to 1966 and 1968 to 1969. He also played for Wycombe Wanderers in 1963–64, for St Albans City, where he made 11 appearances in the 1967–68 season and for Walton & Hersham between 1969 and 1974, where he was captain of the side that won the FA Amateur Cup in 1973.
