Roslinda Samsu
Roslinda Samsu (born 9 June 1982 in Padang Terap) is a Malaysian pole vaulter. She is a four-time defending champion at the Southeast Asian Games, and a silver medalist at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar. She won the bronze medal at the 2005 Asian Athletics Championships in Incheon, South Korea, but nearly missed out of the podium at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia. She was also able to clear her personal best of 4.20 metres to capture the gold medal at the 2007 Asian Athletics Championships in Amman, Jordan. Roslinda represented Malaysia the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, after reaching a qualifying mark of 4.30 metres in both the indoor and outdoor meets. She competed in the women's pole vault, an event which was prominently dominated by Russia's Yelena Isinbayeva. Alana Quade ( Boyd, born 10 May 1984) is a former Australian pole vaulter and Olympian. Athletic career The 2008 Australian Champion, Boyd was selected for the 2007 World Championships, but did not make the final. She did not make the final at the 2008 Summer Olympics, but did at the 2012 Summer Olympics, where she finished in 11th place. Boyd won the gold medal for the women's pole vault at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, which she retained at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. She also reached the final of the 2012 Indoor World Championships, finishing in 9th. Her personal best jump of 4.81 metres, achieved in July 2016 on the Sunshine Coast, was an Australian record at the time. Yelena Isinbayeva
Yelena Gadzhievna Isinbayeva ( rus, Елена Гаджиевна Исинбаева, p=jɪˈlʲɛnə gɐˈdʐɨjɪvnə ɪsʲɪnˈbajɪvə; born 3 June 1982) is a Russian former pole vaulter. She is a two-time Olympic gold medalist (2004 and 2008), a three-time World Champion (2005, 2007 and 2013), the current world record holder in the event, and is widely considered the greatest female pole-vaulter of all time. Isinbayeva was banned from the 2016 Rio Olympics after revelations of an extensive state-sponsored doping programme in Russia, thus dashing her hopes of a grand retirement winning the Olympic gold medal. The women's pole vault at the 2008 Summer Olympics took place between August 16 and 18 at the Beijing National Stadium. The qualifying standards were 4.45 m (A standard) and 4.30 m (B standard). The final was won by Yelena Isinbayeva, who set a new world record height of 5.05 meters for the discipline.
