Roslagen Anti-Aircraft Corps
Roslagen Anti-Aircraft Corps ( sv, Roslagens luftvärnskår), also Lv 3, was a Swedish Army Anti-aircraft warfare, anti-aircraft unit that was active in various forms 1939–2000. The unit was based in Norrtälje. History The unit was raised on 1 October 1939 in Stockholm as the Östgöta Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Östgöta Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment's Detachment in Stockholm (A 10 S). On 1 October 1941, the detachment was separated from the Östgöta Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment and became an independent unit under the name of Stockholm Anti-Aircraft Regiment (A 11). As part of the Defence Act of 1942, the regiment was transferred in 1942 to the newly formed air defence military branch (''Luftvärnstrupperna'') as the Stockholm Anti-Aircraft Regiment (Lv 3). The Swedish Armed Forces ( sv, Försvarsmakten, "the Defense Force") is the government agency that forms the armed forces of Sweden, tasked with the defense of the country as well as with promoting Sweden's wider interests, supporting international peacekeeping, and providing humanitarian aid. The Defence Act of 2000 (prop. 1999/2000:30) was a defence act passed by the Swedish Riksdag on 30 March 2000, and the largest reorganisation of the Swedish Armed Forces since the Defence Act of 1925. The act was a continuation of the policies set in motion by the Defence Act of 1996: shifting the military's focus from the defence of Swedish territory to a more flexible "operational defence* (Swedish: ''insatsförsvar'') for smaller-scale peacekeeping operations in foreign nations. European route E18 runs from Craigavon in Northern Ireland to Saint Petersburg in Russia, passing through Scotland, England, Norway, Sweden and Finland. It is about in length. Although the designation implies the possibility of a through journey, this is no longer practical as there are no direct car ferry crossings between the United Kingdom and Norway. The Gotland Artillery Regiment ( sv, Gotlands artilleriregemente, designation A 7) was a Swedish Army artillery regiment that was in active service between 1811 and 2000. The regiment was based in Visby as part of the Gotland Garrison. History The regiment origins from the Artillery Conscripts of the Gotland National Conscription (''Gotlands nationalbevärings artilleribeväring''), which were organized in 1811 as a result of the Russian occupation of Gotland in 1808 and by a convention adopted by the islanders in December 1810, which was ratified by King Charles XIII on 5 February 1811. It consisted then of two artillery batteries and a fortification company with a squad of 100 men, located in Visby. The Swedish Coastal Artillery ( sv, Kustartilleriet, KA) has its origin in the Archipelago Artillery that was raised in 1866. The Coastal Artillery was formed from the Archipelago Artillery, the Marine Regiment and parts of the Artillery in 1902. Kustartilleriet, abbreviated KA, was an independent branch within the Swedish Navy until July 1, 2000, when the Swedish Coastal Artillery was disbanded and reorganised as the Swedish Amphibious Corps. The changed name and new structure were to reflect the new tasks that the old Coastal Artillery had moved to after the end of the Cold War and the demise of the Warsaw Pact. Scanian Anti-Aircraft Corps ( sv, Skånska luftvärnskåren, Lv 4) was a Swedish Army Anti-aircraft warfare, anti-aircraft unit that operated between 1941 and 1997. The unit was first based in Malmö and later in Ystad. History Through the Defence Act of 1936 (Sweden), Defence Act of 1936, the air defense was given a more independent role in the Swedish artillery, which among other things resulted in a number of anti-aircraft divisions being organized, where, among other things, a division was relocated to Malmö. The division was raised as a preparedness division of Östgöta Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Östgöta Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment (A 10) on 1 October 1941 under the name Malmö Anti-Aircraft Division (A 9 L). The Raytheon MIM-23 HAWK ("Homing all the way killer") is an American medium-range surface-to-air missile. It was designed to be a much more mobile counterpart to the MIM-14 Nike Hercules, trading off range and altitude capability for a much smaller size and weight. Its low-level performance was greatly improved over Nike through the adoption of new radars and a continuous wave semi-active radar homing guidance system.
