''Rooms of the House'' is the third studio album by American post-hardcore band La Dispute, released on March 18, 2014 through their own label Better Living. History The album was written in a cabin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and recorded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with producer Will Yip. The album was released with a 48-page companion book, ''Yesterday's Home'', which was written about the process of making the album and includes all of the lyrics as well. Some of the proceeds from the record went to benefitting causes advancing and encouraging youth involvement in the arts and music, such as all-ages spaces, creative workshops, programming, and education. A tour was announced for Spring 2014 with Pianos Become the Teeth and Mansions. A national tour started on March 14, 2014 and ended on April 14, 2014 and an international tour started on April 27, 2014 and ended on May 22, 2014. La Dispute (band)
La Dispute is an American post-hardcore band from Grand Rapids, Michigan, formed in 2004. The current lineup is vocalist Jordan Dreyer, drummer Brad Vander Lugt, guitarist Chad Morgan-Sterenberg, guitarist Corey Stroffolino and bass guitarist Adam Vass. The band released their debut album, ''Vancouver'', in 2006 on Friction Records and then temporarily signed to Forest Life records where they released ''Here, Hear.'' and ''Untitled 7"'' in May 2008. Post-hardcore is a punk rock music genre that maintains the aggression and intensity of hardcore punk but emphasizes a greater degree of creative expression. It was initially inspired by post-punk and noise rock. Like post-punk, the term has been applied to a broad constellation of groups. ''Rock Sound'' is a British magazine that covers rock music. The magazine aims at being more "underground" and less commercial, while also giving coverage to better-known acts. No Sleep Records is an American independent record label in Huntington Beach, California. They were founded by Chris Hansen in 2006 and have released records by artists including Balance and Composure, La Dispute (band), La Dispute, and The Wonder Years (band), The Wonder Years. They have released free sampler albums on the internet on a number of occasions and the label closely associates itself with vegan lifestyle and the revived interest in vinyl record sales. History Early development (2006–2009) Chris Hansen, the record label's founder, started at the bottom of the music industry in an attempt to build up experience and knowledge of owning a label. He started at Smartpunk and Fearless Records working in the mail room.
