The Tindle Group is a British multimedia company operating regional newspapers and radio stations across the British Isles. It publishes over 200 local newspapers in the UK, a number of which are over 100 years old. The company is based in Farnham, Surrey, under CEO Danny Cammiade. It is owned by the Tindle family. Founder Sir Ray Tindle was a "strong believer in 'ultra-local' journalism", a culture which the company still follows today. He remained the company's president until his death in 2022. His son, Owen Tindle, took over as chairman in 2017. Newspapers The Tindle newspaper empire started out in the 1950s, when Sir Ray acquired the ''Tooting & Balham Gazette'' with his £300 Demobilization, demob payment after his time serving during the Second World War. The Chew Valley and Wrington Vale Gazette is a monthly local newspaper for the Chew Valley and surrounding areas of north Somerset, England. It was previously published as the Chew Valley Digest. The first issue of the Digest was published in April 1984 and the last issue was printed in January 1989, to be replaced by the Gazette, which published its first issue in February 1989. The paper's offices are in Chew Magna. It is distributed free to local residents and available on subscription to others. It also publishes the annual Chew Valley Green Pages. Bauer Media Audio UK is a UK-based radio division of the Bauer Media Group. History In early 2008, German magazine publisher Bauer bought the radio division of British company Emap, which had been established as East Midland Allied Press in 1947. Consequently, Emap Radio Limited was renamed to Bauer Radio Limited. Emap's assets included national stations Kiss Network, Kiss, Kerrang! Radio, Kerrang! and Magic (UK radio station), Magic, and local stations under the Big City Network brand in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. These included 22 local FM stations in Scotland which Emap had bought from Scottish Radio Holdings in 2005. Island FM
Island FM is an Independent Local Radio station broadcasting across the Bailiwick of Guernsey on 104.7FM and 93.7FM in Alderney. Launched in 1992, Island FM remains the sole commercial station in the island and continues to be extremely successful with high listenership figures. Listening figures under a 2018 RAJAR survey showed that out of a population of 53,000 adults, 31,000 listened each week, at an average of 11.6 hours per person giving a 37% market share. As of September 2022, the station broadcasts to a weekly audience of 25,000 with a listening share of 26.1%, according to RAJAR. Capital London
Capital London is a radio station owned and operated by the Global media company as part of its national Capital FM Network. As Capital Radio it was launched in the London area in 1973 as one of Britain's first two commercial radio stations. Its brief was to entertain, while its opposite number, London Broadcasting (LBC), was licensed to provide news and information. In search of a larger audience in 1974, Capital Radio rapidly moved from a general and entertainment station with drama, features, documentaries and light music to a more successful pop music-based format. In 1988 it became two stations: 95.8 Capital FM and Capital Gold. The ''Wellington Weekly News'' is a weekly newspaper in Wellington, Somerset, England. It was founded as ''Corner's Wellington Weekly News'' on 15 November 1860, the same day as the ''Wellington Times'', two of 15 newspapers founded that year in Wellington. Tenby Observer
The ''Tenby Observer'' is a weekly English language newspaper, published each Friday, which circulates around Tenby, South Pembrokeshire, and amongst tourists generally. The ’paper started as a list of the town's influential and well-to-do visitors but soon added news, mostly local, and adverts which traditionally adorned the front page. It was published by Richard Mason from 1853 to 1860. In 1907 The ‘Tenby Observer’ became a pioneer of press freedom when the then editor, Frank B. Mason (founder of the Tenby estate agents now known as fbm) protested through the law courts his being excluded from a Tenby Borough Council meeting. He lost the case, highlighting a deficiency in British law. As a result, the Admission of the Press Act was passed in 1908.
