Rome Adventure
''Rome Adventure'', also known as ''Lovers Must Learn'', is a 1962 romantic drama film, based on the 1932 novel ''Lovers Must Learn'' by Irving Fineman. It was directed by Delmer Daves and stars Troy Donahue, Angie Dickinson, and Suzanne Pleshette. Plot After quitting her job as school librarian, Prudence Bell (Suzanne Pleshette) leaves New England for a vacation in Rome. On the boat over, she befriends Roberto Orlandi (Rossano Brazzi), a philandering middle-aged Italian who upon their arrival in Rome introduces her to a countess who rents out rooms in her villa to tourists. Once Prudence settles in, she finds employment at an American bookstore and later encounters handsome architectural student Don Porter (Troy Donahue), one of several Americans also rooming at the villa. Don, who is recovering from a failed relationship with a blonde temptress named Lyda (Angie Dickinson), keeps his distance at first. Delmer Daves
Delmer Lawrence Daves (July 24, 1904 – August 17, 1977) was an American screenwriter, film director and film producer. He worked in many genres, including film noir and warfare, but he is best known for his Western movies, especially '' Broken Arrow'' (1950), '' The Last Wagon'' (1956), '' 3:10 to Yuma'' (1957) and '' The Hanging Tree'' (1959). He was forced to work on studio-based films only after heart trouble in 1959 but one of these, ''A Summer Place'', was nevertheless a huge commercial success. Daves worked with some of the best known players of his time including established stars like Humphrey Bogart, Gary Cooper, Glenn Ford, James Stewart and Richard Widmark. Emilio Pericoli
Emilio Pericoli (7 January 1928 – 9 April 2013)) was an Italian singer. He was born in Cesenatico, Romagna, Italy. Pericoli's success was closely tied to the Sanremo Festival. He recorded a cover version of the song, " Al di là", by festival winner Betty Curtis. The song was an international success, hitting the charts in the U.S. (No. 3 AC, No. 6 Pop) and No. 30 in UK. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc. In 1962, Pericoli entered the festival himself. Together with composer Tony Renis he sang the ballad " Quando, quando, quando", featured in the movie ''The Easy Life'', which initially failed to chart, but later became one of the best-known Italian hits. The Eurovision Song Contest 1961 was the 6th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. Once again, the contest was held in the French seaside city of Cannes, having also hosted the .
