Emilio Pericoli
Emilio Pericoli (7 January 1928 – 9 April 2013)) was an Italian singer. He was born in Cesenatico, Romagna, Italy. Pericoli's success was closely tied to the Sanremo Festival. He recorded a cover version of the song, "Al di là", by festival winner Betty Curtis. The song was an international success, hitting the charts in the U.S. (No. 3 AC, No. 6 Pop) and No. 30 in UK. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc. In 1962, Pericoli entered the festival himself. Together with composer Tony Renis he sang the ballad "Quando, quando, quando", featured in the movie ''The Easy Life'', which initially failed to chart, but later became one of the best-known Italian hits. A year later, Pericoli returned to San Remo with Renis again, with the song "Uno per tutte". Cesenatico
Cesenatico ( rgn, Ziznàtic) is a port town with about 26,000 inhabitants on the Adriatic coast of Italy. It is located in the province of Forlì-Cesena in the region of Emilia-Romagna, about south of Ravenna. Cesenatico's port canal was surveyed and drawn by Leonardo da Vinci at the request of Cesare Borgia, as part of his plans to fortify the nearby town of Cesena. History Cesenatico was founded in 1302. It was considered part of the city of Cesena until it was incorporated at the beginning of the 18th century. Its port and canal were built in 1314, with the canal originally planned to reach Cesena, some inland. At the request of Cesare Borgia the canal was later surveyed by Leonardo da Vinci. Esther Ofarim
Esther Zaied, better known by her married name Esther Ofarim ( he, אסתר עופרים; born June 13, 1941), is an Israeli singer. She came second in the 1963 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "T'en va pas", representing Switzerland. After marrying Abi Ofarim in 1958, she was half of the husband-and-wife folk duo Esther & Abi Ofarim in the 1960s. After the couple divorced, she undertook a successful solo career. Grethe Ingmann (born Clemmensen; 17 June 1938 – 18 August 1990) was a Danish singer. She started her career at 17, when she temporarily performed as a singer of the Malihini Hawaiians pop quartet. Soon after she sang with the Danish guitarist Jørn Grauengaard and his trio. In 1955 she met her future husband, guitarist Jørgen Ingmann. The couple married in 1956 and performed as the duet Grethe og Jørgen Ingmann. Together they won the Eurovision Song Contest 1963 representing Denmark with the jazz waltz "Dansevise" (Dancing tune) with music by Otto Francker and lyrics by Sejr Volmer-Sørensen. "Uno per tutte" ("One alefor all emales) is a song written by Tony Renis, Mogol and Alberto Testa. It was first performed by Renis and Emilio Pericoli during the 13th Sanremo Music Festival, in February 1963, where they performed two different versions of the song, placing first in the competition. The song was then chosen to represent in the Eurovision Song Contest 1963, where it was performed by Pericoli. The song is a love ballad, in which Pericoli professes his undying love to Claudia. He then confesses the same to Nadia, Julia and Laura before declaring that "on my mouth I have... kisses for you / and I'm dedicating them to the first one who will say yes". He seems unaware of the potential consequences of being caught in this act. A ballad is a form of verse, often a narrative set to music. Ballads derive from the medieval French ''chanson balladée'' or ''ballade'', which were originally "dance songs". Tony Renis (born 13 May 1938), stage name of Elio Cesari, is an Italian singer, composer, music producer and film actor. Life and career Renis was born in Milan. In the mid-1950s he met with Adriano Celentano, and the two started performing an impression of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. In 1958, he was signed by the label "Combo Records", and released a few cover versions of Italian and American rock 'n' roll songs as lead vocalist of the band Combos. In 1961, Renis debuted at the Sanremo Music Festival with the song "Pozzanghere". In 1962, Renis returned to the Sanremo Music Festival where he gained international recognition with the song "Quando, quando, quando", written with Alberto Testa.
