Rogue Ales is a brewery founded in 1988 in Ashland, Oregon. The company brews their own beer, distills their own spirits, farms their own ingredients and coopers their own barrels. Rogue has locations in Oregon and Washington. History Rogue Ales was founded in Ashland, Oregon in 1988 by three Nike, Inc. executives: Jack Joyce, Rob Strasser, and Bob Woodell. In 1987, Jack Joyce, Bob Woodell, past University of Oregon fraternity brothers, and another friend, Rob Strasser, were approached by Jeff Schultz, Woodell's accountant and avid home brewer, with an idea to open a brewpub. Construction began in June 1988 in Ashland along the Lithia Creek. The 10 bbl brew system was set up in the basement with a 60-seat Pub above. Jack Joyce (businessman)
Jack Joyce (December 10, 1942 – May 27, 2014) was an American business executive, lawyer who co-founded Rogue Ales in Ashland, Oregon, in 1988. The ''Portland Business Journal'' has called Joyce, "One of the men most responsible for Oregon's reputation as one of the nation's preeminent beer-making regions." Joyce was also one of the original executives at Nike, Inc., Nike during the company's early years. Rogue Ales was producing 105,000 barrels by 2013, ranking it among the top twenty-five craft beer, craft breweries in the United States. Jack Joyce graduated from the University of Oregon, where he was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. In 1962, Joyce became friends with one of his fellow fraternity member, Bob Woodell. The World Beer Cup is an international beer competition organized by the Brewers Association, a trade group representing America's small and independent craft brewers. It is the largest competition in the beer industry and has been described as "the Olympics of beer." Great American Beer Festival
The Great American Beer Festival (GABF) is an annual beer festival hosted by the Brewers Association, held in Denver, Colorado. Typically held in late September or early October, the event is currently held at Denver's Colorado Convention Center. Established in 1982, it is the largest ticketed beer festival in the U.S. and one of the largest in the world. History The GABF was founded by brewer Charlie Papazian, and the first festival was held in conjunction with the American Homebrewers Association's annual conference in Boulder, Colorado in June 1982, featuring 24 participating breweries and 47 beers. Rogue Ales Beard Beer is an American wild ale brewed by Rogue Ales of Newport, Oregon using wild yeast originally cultured from nine beard hairs belonging to Rogue Ales' brewmaster, John Maier. Following media coverage in 2012, the beer went on sale on April 1, 2013. When reporting on the introduction of the beer in 2013, ''The Oregonian'' newspaper originally stated that the ''Huffington Post'' had been taken in by an April Fools' Day joke, but the ''Oregonian'' writer was contacted by a Rogue employee, and reported a few days later that it was not a joke. During development, the beer's working name was ''New Crustacean''. Sriracha Sauce (Huy Fong Foods)
Huy Fong's sriracha sauce ( ; th, ศรีราชา, ) vi, Tương Ớt Sriracha), also referred to as sriracha, rooster sauce or cock sauce for the rooster on its label, is a brand of sriracha, a chili sauce that originated in Thailand. The sauce is produced by Huy Fong Foods, a California manufacturer, and was created in 1980 by David Tran, a Chinese immigrant from Vietnam. Some cookbooks include recipes using it as their main condiment. It can be recognized by its bright red color and its packaging: a clear plastic bottle with a green cap, text in Vietnamese, English, Chinese, and Spanish, and the rooster logo. Rogue Creamery is an American cheese maker based in Central Point, Oregon founded in 1933. Since 2002, Rogue Creamery has been making artisan cheeses. Founder Tom Vella brought mold, cultures and recipes for ''Oregon Blue'' to Central Point from Roquefort, France.
