Rod Navarro
Joseph Bowers Rigets (March 10, 1930 – April 9, 2003), better known his stage name as Rod Navarro, was a film and television actor. He was the host of ''Tawag ng Tanghalan''. Navarro was known as a character actor for playing rich dons, villains and for being "mahangin" (show off), a trademark in film and television to which he was known for, notably as Don Facundo in the Philippine sitcom ''Beh Bote Nga.'' A Retired Master Sergeant in the Philippine Constabulary, he himself was a sharpshooter, which was evident in some of his films during the 1960s. Navarro also served as a Councilor / Vice Mayor in Pasig, a Radio anchor and was a top product endorser during his time. DWAN-AM
DWAN (1206 AM) was a radio station owned and operated by the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation. History The station was established in 1973 by Banahaw Broadcasting Corporation, a company owned by the late Marcos crony Roberto Benedicto, on 1160 AM under the call letters DWWA. In November 1978, it transferred its frequency to 1206 AM, in response to the adoption of the 9 kHz spacing on AM radio stations in the Philippines under the Geneva Frequency Plan of 1975. In 1984, it changed its call letters to DWAN. When BBC was dissolved after the 1986 EDSA Revolution, ownership of the station was transferred to the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation. By this time, it was located in Broadcast City. In 1996, DWAN returned to air, this time under the management of Bubby Dacer's Asia Pacific News and Features. Sampaguita Pictures was a Philippine film production company. It was named for the Philippine national flower, sampaguita. Though no longer functioning, the company's Sampaguita Compound remains in Quezon City. History Sampaguita Pictures was established in the last quarter of 1937. Its first feature-length film was ''Bituing Marikit'', starring Elsa Oria and Rogelio dela Rosa. It was a box-office hit. The company continued to make films in the action, musical, horror and suspense genres. Jose Malgapo Taruc Jr. (; September 18, 1947 – September 30, 2017), also known as Joe Taruc, was a Filipino news anchor who worked at DZRH in the Philippines. He was one of the top-rating news anchors on radio. Aside from being a news anchor, Taruc was also the Senior-Vice President of the station. He was the news anchor of the 7am newscast DZRH Pangunahing Balita as well as ''Damdaming Bayan'', one of the longest-running public affairs programs on the station. Taruc interviewed people about politics, mostly the president. He was also the pioneer of ABS-CBN DZAQ Radyo Patrol (predecessor of DZMM) before the Martial Law regime.
