Rock Star Supernova (album)
''Rock Star Supernova'' is the only studio album by American hard rock supergroup Rock Star Supernova, released on November 21, 2006, through Mark Burnett Productions and Epic Records. The band was formed during the second season of the '' Rock Star'' TV series, which was called '' Rock Star: Supernova''. The album received mainly negative reviews and only charted at number 101 on the ''Billboard'' 200. However the album charted at #4 on the Canadian Albums Chart and was certified Platinum (over 100,000 units sold). Background Rock Star Supernova band members: Tommy Lee (Mötley Crüe), Jason Newsted ( Voivod and ex-Metallica) and Gilby Clarke (ex-Guns N' Roses) formed the basis of the second season of the '' Rock Star'' television program on CBS in the quest to find a lead singer. The ''Billboard'' 200 is a record chart ranking the 200 most popular music albums and EPs in the United States. It is published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine and is frequently used to convey the popularity of an artist or groups of artists. Often, a recording act will be remembered by its " number ones", those of their albums that outperformed all others during at least one week. Stephen Thomas Erlewine (; born June 18, 1973) is an American music critic and senior editor for the online music database AllMusic. He is the author of many artist biographies and record reviews for AllMusic, as well as a freelance writer, occasionally contributing liner notes. Erlewine was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and is a nephew of the former musician and AllMusic founder Michael Erlewine. He studied at the University of Michigan, where he majored in English, and was a music editor (1993–94) and then arts editor (1994–1995) of the school's paper ''The Michigan Daily'', and DJ'd at the campus radio station, WCBN. Lukas Rossi (born December 21, 1976) is a Canadian rock singer and musician. He was the winner of the CBS Television reality series '' Rock Star: Supernova'' – a televised audition contest to become lead singer of the hard rock supergroup ''Rock Star Supernova''. Biography Rossi was raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He formed and fronted two bands; the first was Cleavage (1995–2005) with brothers Jon and Bill Jameson. The Toronto-based band won the "Best Canadian Unsigned Band" award at the 2000 NXNE Music Festival in Toronto. In 2004, Rossi entered into a publishing deal with EMI Music Canada. Gilby Clarke
Gilbert J. "Gilby" Clarke (born August 17, 1962) is an American musician, singer, songwriter and record producer. He had a 3-year tenure as the rhythm guitarist of Guns N' Roses, replacing Izzy Stradlin in 1991 during the Use Your Illusion Tour, and also featured on '' "The Spaghetti Incident?"'' (1993). Following this, Clarke went on to forge a solo career as well playing guitar with Slash's Snakepit, Kat Men, Heart, Nancy Sinatra, Kathy Valentine (of The Go-Go's), MC5 and forming his own group Rock Star Supernova with members of Metallica and Mötley Crüe. Voivod (band)
Voivod is a Canadian heavy metal band from Jonquière, Quebec (now Saguenay, Quebec). The original line-up consisted of vocalist Denis "Snake" Bélanger, guitarist Denis "Piggy" D'Amour, drummer Michel "Away" Langevin and bassist Jean-Yves "Blacky" Thériault. The band has had numerous members changes throughout its -year career, with Langevin as the only remaining original member. Jason Curtis Newsted (born March 4, 1963) is an American musician who was the bassist of heavy metal band Metallica from 1986 to 2001. He first performed with thrash metal band Flotsam and Jetsam from 1981 to 1986 before joining Metallica to succeed the deceased Cliff Burton.
