''Rock!!!!!'' is an album released by Violent Femmes in 1995. It was originally released only in Australia, but is now available in the rest of the world. Violent Femmes
Violent Femmes are an American folk punk band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The band consists of founding members Gordon Gano (guitar, lead vocals) and Brian Ritchie (bass, backing vocals), joined by multi-instrumentalist Blaise Garza (joined 2004), and drummer John Sparrow (joined 2005). Former members of the band include drummers Victor DeLorenzo (1980–1993, 2002–2013), Guy Hoffman (1993–2002), and Brian Viglione (2013–2016). Violent Femmes have released ten studio albums and 15 singles during the course of their career. The band found critical acclaim with the release of their self-titled debut album in early 1983. Guy Hoffman
Guy Hoffman (born May 20, 1954 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is a drummer and vocalist, formerly of such bands as Oil Tasters, BoDeans, Violent Femmes and Absinthe. He is a composer for such films as ''Field Day'' and a founding member of Radio Romeo. Life Hoffman began playing drums at the age of nine. He developed skills in music and art under the direction of Eddie Allen, Sylvia Spicuzza, LeRoy Augustine, and Joe Ferrara within the Shorewood public school system. From 1972 to 1976, Hoffman concentrated on watercolor painting and drawing under professor Laurence Rathsack in the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee (UWM) Fine Arts programs. He also played popular music with local bands at live music venues throughout Wisconsin. From 1977 to 1978, Hoffman studied graphic arts with Leon Travanti and graduated from UWM with a BA in fine art and visual communications. ''New Times'' is the sixth studio album released by Violent Femmes in 1994. It is the first album to not feature original drummer Victor DeLorenzo on drums, who had been replaced by Guy Hoffman. "Breakin' Up," a song lead singer Gordon Gano had written years before, was the lead single. Its video received minor airplay on MTV and appears on the band's DVD, ''Permanent Record - Live & Otherwise''. The album did not sell well, but featured many of the Femmes' most musically complex and lyrically inventive songs, including "4 Seasons," and concert staple "I'm Nothing." Sigmund Snopek III
Sigmund Snopek III (born 1950) is an American musician and composer. Career Snopek began his career in the late 1960s with a prog-rock band called Bloomsbury People. He has since created concept albums, pop songs, and classical compositions. Along the way, he performed and recorded with The Violent Femmes. In 2015, he was inducted into the Wisconsin Area Music Industry Hall of Fame. Snopek composed a jazz symphony to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of Waukesha, Wisconsin, which was performed at the University of Wisconsin–Waukesha on August 12, 1984. Didgeridoo
The didgeridoo (; also spelt didjeridu, among other variants) is a wind instrument, played with vibrating lips to produce a continuous Drone (music), drone while using a special breathing technique called circular breathing. The didgeridoo was developed by Aboriginal Australians, Aboriginal peoples of northern Australia at least 1,000 years ago, and is now in use around the world, though still most strongly associated with Indigenous Australian music. Maxell Walter Dumont Dunn (1895 – 4 September 1963) was an Australian editor, publisher, poet, and literary translator. Born in Dublin, Ireland, Dunn's early life remains obscure, though he claimed to have been educated at the University of Edinburgh, and in France and the United States, before moving to Australia in 1924, and settling in Melbourne. His claims to have been in the Royal Flying Corps in World War I also seem unsubstantiated. Hallowed Ground (Violent Femmes Album)
''Hallowed Ground'' is the second studio album by Violent Femmes, released in June 1984. Like the band's first album, the songs were mostly written by singer/guitarist/lyricist Gordon Gano when he was in high school. "Country Death Song", for example, written by Gano during his high school classes, was inspired by the tradition of folk songs about "terrible, horrific stories". A departure from the straightforward rock style of their debut, ''Hallowed Ground'' was considerably divisive amongst fans and critics, with many at the time incorrectly thinking Gano's Christian lyrics were ironic. David LaChapelle (born March 11, 1963) is an American photographer, music video director and film director.
