Robert Thomson Robinson (18 January 1867 – 19 September 1926) was an Australian lawyer and politician who was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1914 to 1921, representing the seat of Canning. Hal Colebatch
Sir Harry Pateshall Colebatch (29 March 1872 – 12 February 1953) was a long-serving and occasionally controversial figure in Western Australian politics. He was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Council for nearly 20 years, the twelfth Premier of Western Australia for a month in 1919, agent-general in London for five years, and a senator for four years. Born in England, his family migrated to South Australia when Colebatch was four years old. He left school aged 11 and worked for several newspapers in South Australia before moving to Broken Hill in New South Wales in 1888. The City of Stirling is a local government area in the northern suburbs of the Western Australian capital city of Perth about north of Perth's central business district. The City covers an area of and has a population of over 223,000, making it the largest local government area by population in Western Australia. History Stirling was established on 24 January 1871 as the Perth Road District under the ''District Roads Act 1871''. The district at that time included what are now the Cities of Wanneroo, Joondalup, Bayswater and Belmont. With the passage of the ''Local Government Act 1960'', which reformed all road districts into shires, it became the Shire of Perth on 1 July 1961. Samuel Johnson Haynes
Samuel Johnson Haynes (22 March 1852 – 3 February 1932) was an Australian barrister and politician who served as a member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia from 1894 to 1910, representing South-East Province. Haynes was born in Leek, Staffordshire, England, to Sarah Ann (née Johnson) and George Haynes. His parents left for Australia when he was a small child, settling in Port Fairy, Victoria. Haynes was sent to grammar school in England, but returned to Australia to study law. He completed his legal studies in South Australia, and was called to the bar there in 1886. In 1888, Haynes moved to Albany, Western Australia, where he established his own law firm. The call to the bar is a legal term of art in most common law jurisdictions where persons must be qualified to be allowed to argue in court on behalf of another party and are then said to have been "called to the bar" or to have received "call to the bar". "The bar" is now used as a collective noun for barristers, but literally referred to the wooden barrier in old courtrooms, which separated the often crowded public area at the rear from the space near the judges reserved for those having business with the court. Barristers would sit or stand immediately behind it, facing the judge, and could use it as a table for their briefs. Sir Alexander Campbell Onslow (17 July 1842 – 20 October 1908) was the third Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Western Australia, which is the highest ranking court in the Australian State of Western Australia. Onslow is a forebear of the notable Australian Macarthur- Onslow families. The Hon Septimus Burt KC (25 October 1847 – 15 May 1919) was a Western Australian lawyer, politician and grazier, the son of Sir Archibald Burt. He was born on 25 October 1847 at St Kitts in the West Indies, and educated at a private school at Melksham, Wiltshire, England. His family had been resident in the West Indies since 1635, primarily involved in administration of the Leeward Islands and in sugar plantations. Burt's great-great-great-uncle, William Mathew Burt, was Governor-General (1776–1781) of the Leeward Islands during the American War of Independence. In January 1861 he arrived in Western Australia with his parents, and subsequently attended Hale School in Perth. He served as an articled clerk to George Frederick Stone, and was admitted to the Bar in 1870.
