Robert Finnerty
Robert Finnerty (born 1998) is a Gaelic footballer who plays for Salthill-Knocknacarra and at senior level for the Galway county team. Part of the Galway senior panel since 2017, he played for Galway in the 2016 All-Ireland Minor Football Championship final and the 2017 All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship final. He has played Sigerson Cup football for NUI Galway and is the son of Anthony Finnerty, who played for Mayo. Robert Finnerty made senior championship appearances for Galway in 2019, playing championship before he played in the league. He scored a goal in Pádraic Joyce's first game as manager. He took a penalty against Armagh in the 2022 All-Ireland SFC quarter-final game. 2022 Connacht Senior Football Championship
The 2022 Connacht Senior Football Championship was the 2022 iteration of the Connacht Senior Football Championship organised by Connacht GAA. London and New York were withdrawn from the 2020 and 2021 Connacht championships as part of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Gaelic games, due to international travel restrictions, but both returned for the 2022 season. Connacht Senior Football Championship
The Connacht Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition for the senior county teams of Connacht GAA. All of the counties of Connacht participate in the championship, as well as counties London and New York. The winning team receives the Nestor Cup. The Connacht Senior Football Championship is run on a knock-out basis in which once a team loses they are eliminated from the competition. A series of games are played during the summer months and the final is played in June or July. The winner progresses directly to the All-Ireland Super 8s, while losing teams progress to the All-Ireland Qualifiers (before 2001 the All-Ireland was a straight knock-out format meaning all losing teams were eliminated after a single defeat). The Armagh vs Galway football match that took place on 26 June 2022 at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland, was the third quarter-final match of the 2022 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. The Armagh county football team ( ) represents Armagh GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association, in the Gaelic sport of football. Pádraic Joyce (born 1 April 1977) is a Gaelic football manager and former player who played as a forward. He has been manager of the senior Galway county team since 2019. Joyce won the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship twice with Galway as a player and received three All Star Awards. He won four Galway Senior Football Championships while playing for the Killererin club. He also captained Ireland in the International Rules Series. In May 2020, the ''Irish Independent'' named Joyce at number sixteen in its "Top 20 footballers in Ireland over the past 50 years".
