Robert Dean Barbers
Robert Dean Smith Barbers is a Filipino government official who served as Acting Secretary of the Department of Tourism of the Philippines. He was also the general manager of the Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA) and a City Councilor of Makati. Barbers was appointed on November 12, 2002 as general manager of the Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA) by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. His appointment was legally challenged by his predecessor Nixon Kua who insisted his term should end in 2006, a case Kua lost. Barber's administration also sought for the construction of the PTA Sports Complex within Intramuros which was halted by a court order in 2007. Barber's term would expire in 2008 and he was succeeded by Ace Durano. Richard Juico Gordon (born August 5, 1945) is a Filipino lawyer and politician who most recently served as a Senator from 2016 to 2022, and previously from 2004 to 2010. He is the chairman and CEO of the Philippine Red Cross since 2004. He rose to national prominence for his work in preserving and developing the former U.S. naval base in Subic when he served as the first chairman of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority from 1992 to 1998, and when he conceptualized the Wow Philippines campaign as Secretary of Tourism from 2001 to 2004. Roberto "Obet" Mamangon Pagdanganan (born July 19, 1946, in Calumpit, Bulacan, Philippines) is a Filipino politician who served as the 29th Governor of Bulacan from 1988 to 1998. Joseph Felix Mari "Ace" Hotchkiss Durano (born April 3, 1970) is a Filipino politician who served as Secretary of Tourism under President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. He was also general manager of the Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA), being appointed by Arroyo in 2008. Robert Zabala Barbers (January 19, 1944 – December 25, 2005) was a police officer, Secretary of the Interior and Local Government and Senator of the Philippines. Early life and studies Barbers was born in the then-town of Surigao to Felix and Regina Barbers. His paternal grandfather, George Barbieri (later Barbers), was an Italian-American immigrant from the Spanish–American War who married a Surigaonon lady.
