Europa (1991 Film)
''Europa'' (known as ''Zentropa'' in North America) is a 1991 experimental psychological drama anti-war film directed by Lars von Trier. It is von Trier's third theatrical feature film and the final film in his Europa trilogy following ''The Element of Crime'' (1984) and ''Epidemic'' (1987). The film features an international ensemble cast, including Germans Barbara Sukowa and Udo Kier, expatriate American Eddie Constantine, and Swedes Max von Sydow and Ernst-Hugo Järegård. This was German-born French-American Jean-Marc Barr's first collaboration with von Trier. ''Europa'' was influenced by Franz Kafka's '' Amerika'', and the title was chosen "as an echo" of that novel. Plot A young, idealistic American hopes to "show some kindness" to the German people soon after the end of World War II. In US-occupied Germany, he takes on work as a sleeping-car conductor for the Zentropa railway network, falls in love with a ''femme fatale'', and becomes embroiled in a pro-Nazi terror ...

''In China They Eat Dogs'' ( da, I Kina spiser de hunde) is a 1999 Danish action comedy film directed by Lasse Spang Olsen, and starring Kim Bodnia, and Dejan Čukić. Plot Arvid (Dejan Čukić), a bank teller, is dumped by his girlfriend for being too boring and dull. Hoping to put some excitement in his life, Arvid helps stop a robbery at the bank. The wife of the would-be bank robber tracks Arvid down and tells him her husband was robbing the bank only so he could pay for medical treatments so they could have a child. The title is a reference to an axiom Arvid's brother tells him: "In China, they eat dogs"; which makes him realize that there is no such thing as moral absolutism, and that whether something is right or wrong depends on the situation. Because of his revelation, he comes to sympathize with the bank robber. Imagining he can help the couple and prove himself to be a dangerous outlaw all at once, Arvid plots a robbery of his own bank with the help of his brother Hara ...
