Rob Frayne
Rob Frayne (born 1957) is a Canadian jazz saxophonist, arranger and bandleader based in Ottawa, Ontario. He was part of the bands Chelsea Bridge and the Angstones, but his career was interrupted by a serious car crash in 2004. Following that, he concentrated on composing, then made a gradual return to public playing. Career Frayne was born in 1957. He started playing the saxophone in his teens. "In the 1990s and early 2000s, Frayne was the premier saxophonist in Ottawa, his home town. He played in such groups as Chelsea Bridge and the Angstones. Chelsea Bridge (quartet)
Chelsea Bridge was a Canadian jazz quartet based in Ottawa, Ontario. Its members were Rob Frayne on tenor and soprano saxophone, bassist John Geggie, drummer Jean Martin, trumpet player Clyde Forsberg, and singer Tena Palmer. The band was highly-regarded, with critics calling it 'cutting-edge' and 'ground-breaking'. Kenny Wheeler
Kenneth Vincent John Wheeler, OC (14 January 1930 – 18 September 2014) was a Canadian composer and trumpet and flugelhorn player, based in the U.K. from the 1950s onwards. Most of his performances were rooted in jazz, but he was also active in free improvisation and occasionally contributed to rock music recordings. Wheeler wrote over one hundred compositions and was a skilled arranger for small groups and large ensembles. Wheeler was the patron of the Royal Academy Junior Jazz course. Early life Wheeler was born in Toronto, Ontario, on 14 January 1930. Growing up in Toronto, he began playing the cornet at age 12 and became interested in jazz in his mid-teens.
