Riverland Football League
The Riverland Football League is an Australian rules football league located in South Australia's Riverland region. The league has two divisions - the first division is for the main towns of the Riverland and the second division, called the Riverland Independent Football League, is for the minor towns. The competition reformed in 1919 as the Upper Murray Football Association and later in 1952 became the Upper Murray Football League, the same name as the Upper Murray Football League based around Corryong, Victoria. Renmark Rovers FC
The Renmark Rovers Football Club is an Australian rules football club located in Renmark, South Australia. The club formed in 1923 as a result of a merger between the Fairview Rovers and the Renmark Town FC. They compete in the Riverland Football League (RFL) where they have won 21 premierships, the most recent in 2021. The club, formed in 1909, celebrated their centennial in June 2009. In 2019, the A grade team were premiers breaking a 10 year drought. Josh Vater was playing coach with Matt Woolford captaining the team. With the RFL competition canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic the A grade team in 2021 defended their title and went back to back for the first time since 1981-82. In 2021 the RRFC demonstrated its dominance by taking out 3 premierships (A-grade, B-grade, U13's) and runner up in the U 18's. Luke Jericho
Luke Jericho (born 18 October 1984) is an Australian rules footballer, formerly for Adelaide in the AFL. He was recruited as a second round pick in the 2002 AFL Draft, selection number 32 overall. He made his debut in 2004, against St Kilda, and kicked a goal on debut. He ended up playing 15 games for the year, and scoring 10 goals. Jericho now plays for Norwood in the SANFL. In 2005, he played just the 5 games, scoring 5 goals, including a four-goal haul against Essendon in Round 11. In the 2006 season, he could not break into the team, and opted to have a shoulder reconstruction in July, meaning he would be sure to miss the rest of the season. In 2007, he once again found himself on the outer. With injuries to Brett Burton and Mark Ricciuto, he was called up to play against the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba. Damien Murray (born 6 December 1970) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with North Melbourne in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally from South Australian National Football League club West Adelaide, Murray was drafted by North Melbourne with pick 80 in the 1989 National Draft. Michael Murphy (Australian Footballer)
Michael Murphy (born 8 September 1965) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the North Melbourne Football Club, Adelaide Football Club and the Brisbane Bears in the Victorian/Australian Football League (VFL/AFL). Murphy, a key position player from Renmark, came to North Melbourne after being selected with the ninth pick of the 1987 VFL Draft. He played three times in the 1988 VFL season then returned to the club he was recruited from, Glenelg in the SANFL. Murphy was a centre half back in the 1990 Grand Final, which Glenelg lost to Port Adelaide. His performances during the year saw him make the Adelaide Football Club's squad for their entry into the AFL in 1991. Russell Ebert
Russell Frank Ebert (22 June 1949 – 5 November 2021) was an Australian rules footballer and coach. He is considered one of the greatest players in the history of Australian rules football in South Australia. Ebert is the only player to have won four Magarey Medals, which are awarded to the best and fairest player in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). He is one of four Australian rules footballers to have a statue at Adelaide Oval, the others being Ken Farmer, Malcolm Blight and Barrie Robran. Kaiden Brand (born 8 April 1994) is an Australian rules football player who plays with the West Adelaide Football Club in the South Australian National Football League. He previously played with the Hawthorn Football Club and Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League. AFL career Hawthorn selected him with pick 66 in the 2012 AFL Draft. Byron Schammer (born 21 June 1985) is an Australian rules footballer currently playing with the Claremont Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). He previously played with the Fremantle Football Club in the Australian Football League. Tom Waye
Tom Waye (28 December 1909 – 10 February 1992) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Port Adelaide in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and Footscray in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Waye played his earliest football in Willunga and Renmark, before arriving in Adelaide and competing in the Port Adelaide Church Association. He started his Port Adelaide career in 1929, by which time he was also representing the suburb as a district cricketer. Albert Yeo (6 November 1929 – 10 June 2014) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Essendon Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Essendon cleared Yeo to fellow VFL side St Kilda midway through the 1958 season, but he did not play any senior games for them. Troy Lehmann
Troy Lehmann (born 25 February 1972) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood and the Brisbane Bears in the Australian Football League (AFL) during the early 1990s. Lehmann was picked up by Collingwood in the 1989 VFL draft, from South Australian National Football League (SANFL) club North Adelaide. He played his football mostly as a ruck-rover and kicked two goals on his AFL debut in 1991. Mark Anthony Ricciuto ( ; born 8 June 1975) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). From Ramco, South Australia, Ricciuto started as a junior with the local Waikerie Magpies Football Club. He joined the West Adelaide Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL), making his debut at the age of 16, before being recruited by Adelaide as a zone selection prior to the 1993 season.
