River Shimanto Ultramarathon
The River Shimanto Ultramarathon, also referred to as Shimantogawa Ultra Marathon (四万十川ウルトラマラソン), is a 100 km and 60 km ultramarathon foot road race event held annually in October in Kochi, Japan since 1995. It is an official 100 km and 60 km event endorsed by JAAF. Kochi (), also known as Cochin ( ) ( the official name until 1996) is a major port city on the Malabar Coast of India bordering the Laccadive Sea, which is a part of the Arabian Sea. is a city in southwestern Kōchi Prefecture, Japan. , the city had an estimated population of 32,593 in 16635 households, and a population density of 52 persons per km². Marathons In Japan
The marathon is a long-distance foot race with a distance of , usually run as a road race, but the distance can be covered on trail routes. The marathon can be completed by running or with a run/walk strategy. There are also wheelchair divisions.
