Rising (arts Festival)
Rising, stylised as RISING, is a city-wide arts festival held in Melbourne, Australia. It is supported by the Victoria State Government. History Rising was announced in May 2020 as Melbourne’s new major arts and culture festival, taking the place of the Melbourne International Arts Festival and White Night. RISING is led by co-artistic directors Hannah Fox and Gideon Obarzanek. Rising’s inaugural festival, scheduled to take place in August 2020, was delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic and postponed into 2021. Rising’s rescheduled program was announced in March 2021. For its headline event, Rising commissioned the new exhibition ''A Miracle Constantly Repeated'' by Patricia Piccinini. The exhibition was the first large-scale opening of Flinders Street Station's ballroom to the public in decades. Melbourne
Melbourne ( ; Boonwurrung/Woiwurrung: ''Narrm'' or ''Naarm'') is the capital and most populous city of the Australian state of Victoria, and the second-most populous city in both Australia and Oceania. Maree Clarke
Maree Clarke is a Mutti Mutti, Yorta Yorta, BoonWurrung/Wemba Wemba woman living in Melbourne, known for her work as a curator and artist. Clarke is a multidisciplinary artist renowned for her work in reviving South-eastern Aboriginal Australian art practices. Career Maree Clarke, a Mutti Mutti, Yorta Yorta, BoonWurrung/Wemba Wemba woman, grew up in and around Mildura in North Western Victoria. The Music Network
''The Music Network'' is an Australian magazine launched in 1994 by John Woodruff. In 2017, it was acquired by Jake Challenor, who serves as its publisher and editor. The 2022 Music Victoria Awards are the 17th Annual Music Victoria Awards. The ceremony is scheduled to take place in December 2022. The Music Victoria Awards (previously known as The Age EG Awards and The Age Music Victoria Awards) are an annual awards night celebrating music from the Australian state of Victoria. They commenced in 2006 and are awarded in Melbourne Music Week between October and December. The awards were initially an exclusively online public voted awards, changing in 2013. Melbourne Art Trams
The Melbourne Art Trams is a major public art project in Melbourne, Australia. It is a revival and re-imagining of the ''Transporting Art'' project which ran from 1978 to 1993 and saw 36 painted W-class trams rolled out across the Melbourne network. Melbourne Festival reinvigorated the project in 2013 with an annual expression of interest process from Victorian-based artists. Seven professional and one emerging artist are commissioned each year, with their artwork digitally printed on vinyl and applied to modern trams. The eight designs are released onto the network each October as part of Melbourne Festival's visual art program. Byron J Scullin
Byron J Scullin is an Australian composer and sound designer. His sound design work has appeared in performances and exhibitions at National Gallery of Victoria, Rising Festival, and Dark Mofo. His 2015 Dark Mofo art piece ''Bass Bath'' was a collaboration with the company Supple Fox, made up of Hannah Fox and Tom Supple. The work featured eight "2100 horsepower monolithic subwoofers" in the space which audience members could move around to change their experience, with the low tones causing a physical sensation across their body. In 2017 he returned to Dark Mofo with Supple Fox. Their art piece ''Siren Songs'' included 450 speakers and a helicopter broadcasting sound around the city as part of the performance which ''The Guardian'' called "eerie, dark and beautiful."
