The 2022 Music Victoria Awards are the 17th Annual Music Victoria Awards. The ceremony is scheduled to take place in December 2022. The list of industry-voted nominees was announced on 27 October 2022 and the public voted nominees announced on 10 November 2022. Music Victoria CEO Simone Schinkel said of the awards "Last night's Music Victoria Awards ceremony was bursting at the seams with the community, camaraderie, and solidarity that we have seen from the music community throughout the Music Victoria Awards campaign. Cat Hope
Catherine Anne "Cat" Hope (born 11 March 1966), is an Australian composer, musician and academic. She started her music and academic careers in Perth and relocated to Melbourne in 2017. Her opera, ''Speechless'', was first performed in 2019 at the Perth Festival. At the Art Music Awards of 2020 she won Work of the Year: Dramatic for ''Speechless''. Steve Dow of ''The Age'' described the opera, "fuelled by outrage over the imprisonment of asylum seeker children, which features growling and screaming to an unconventional score without musical notation." Lachlan Bryan and the Wildes (formerly known as The Wildes) are an alt-country music group from Melbourne, Australia. Nat Bartsch is a pianist and composer based in Melbourne, Australia who creates lyrical, meditative work that explores the space between classical and jazz genres. Evelyn Ida Morris, also known as Pikelet, is a musician from the outer suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. Morris does not identify as either male or female and prefers to use "they", "them" and "their" as pronouns. They released four albums; ''Pikelet'' (2007), ''Stem'' (2010), ''Calluses'' (2013) and ''Tronc'' (2016). Career Morris began playing piano from a young age. Their music career began as a hardcore/ punk-obsessed drummer, performing in many bands but mostly including Baseball and True Radical Miracle. In 2003 Morris switched from drum kit to a mix of instruments and a loop pedal for recordings as Pikelet. The Sidney Myer Music Bowl is an outdoor bandshell performance venue in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is located in the lawns and gardens of Kings Domain on Linlithgow Avenue close to the Arts Centre and the Southbank entertainment precinct. It was officially opened by the Prime Minister of Australia, Robert Menzies, on 12 February 1959, with an audience of 30,000 people. It is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. The Palais Theatre (originally Palais Pictures) is a historic picture palace located in St Kilda, an inner suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. With a capacity of nearly 3,000 people, it is the largest seated theatre in Australia.
