Rio Do Sul
Rio do Sul is a municipality in the state of Santa Catarina in the South region of Brazil. One of the postcards of the city is the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Other important buildings are Ponte dos Arcos, a former railway station and German-style buildings. Also in town is the Itajaí-Açu river (a confluence of Itajaí do Sul and Itajaí do Oeste). History Rio do Sul was elevated to municipality status as of state Law # 1,708 of October 10, 1930, with territory taken from Blumenau. Climate The Region is classified as having a temperate, humid climate. The annual median temperature is 18 °C (maximum of 34 °C, in the summer and minimum -2 °C in the winter). In the winter of 2013, snow was recorded in the municipality, which is very uncommon. South Region, Brazil
The South Region of Brazil (; ) is one of the five regions of Brazil. It includes the states of Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, and Santa Catarina, and covers , being the smallest region of the country, occupying only about 6.76% of the territory of Brazil. Blumenau
