Riddle (Shoshoni language: Yakwahnim Paa) is an unincorporated community in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Idaho, in Owyhee County. Located on SH-51, it is north of the border with Nevada and south of Mountain Home. The community lies at the north edge of the Duck Valley Indian Reservation. The community has the name of the local Riddle family. In 2000, the average median household income for the ZIP Code Tabulation Area that includes Grasmere and Riddle was $30,921. Idaho State Highway 51
State Highway 51 (SH-51) is a state highway in southwestern Idaho from Mountain Home south to the Nevada border, where it continues as State Route 225 to Elko. It is the major north–south road in Owyhee County. As currently configured in the state's official milepoint log, SH-51 terminates at the Business Loop 84 intersection with American Legion Boulevard, and is not otherwise officially concurrent/overlaid with BL-84 (where the signs at I-84's Exits 90 and 95 say "To SH-51/To SH-67") or the former section of US-20 that follows American Legion Boulevard to Interstate 84/U.S. Route 20 east at Exit 95. Grasmere, Idaho
Grasmere is an abandoned service stop in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Idaho, in Owyhee County. Located on State Highway 51, it is 32.5 miles (52.3 km) north of the border with Nevada and 58.5 miles (94.1 km) south of Mountain Home. Grasmere was the former site of a small gas station/bar&grill/post office. The site is now occupied by a remote United States Air Force station manned by active duty airmen from the nearby Mountain Home Air Force Base and Idaho Air National Guard airmen from Gowen Field in Boise. The station operates the flight training range over Bruneau Canyon of the Bruneau River just east of here for aircraft from their bases and other nearby bases in the region (such as Hill Air Force Base and Fairchild Air Force Base). ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs) are statistical entities developed by the United States Census Bureau for tabulating summary statistics. These were introduced with the Census 2000 and continued with the 2010 Census and 5 year American Community Survey data sets. This new entity was developed to overcome the difficulties in precisely defining the land area covered by each ZIP code. Defining the extent of an area is necessary in order to tabulate census data for that area. Duck Valley Indian Reservation
The Duck Valley Indian Reservation () was established in the 19th century for the federally recognized Shoshone-Paiute Tribe. It is isolated in the high desert of the western United States, and lies on the state line, the 42nd parallel, between Idaho and Nevada. The reservation, in the shape of a square, is almost evenly divided in land area between the two states, with the northern 50.2 percent in southern Owyhee County, Idaho and the southern 49.8 percent in northwestern Elko County, Nevada. Mountain Home, Idaho
Mountain Home is the largest city and county seat of Elmore County, Idaho, United States. The population was 15,979 in the 2020 census.
