Revolutionary Left (Spain)
Revolutionary Left ( es, Izquierda Revolucionaria, ca, Esquerra Revolucionària, eu, Ezker Iraultzailea, gl, Esquerda Revolucionaria) is a Trotskyist political party in Spain formerly affiliated with the Committee for a Workers' International (CWI). Revolutionary left publishes El Militante in Spanish, Militant in Catalan and Euskal Herria Sozialista. They contain a socialist perspective on news and current issues. It campaigns for a party of the working class to express the political needs of those not benefiting from the capitalist system. They believe a strong and organized movement of workers and young people can overthrow capitalism and establish a new society. This can be achieved by taking banks and big business into public ownership and administering them through democratic control and management. People's Party (Spain)
The People's Party ( es, Partido Popular ; known mostly by its acronym, PP ) is a conservative and Christian-democratic political party in Spain. The People's Party was a 1989 re-foundation of People's Alliance (AP), a party led by former minister of the dictatorship Manuel Fraga and founded back in 1976 as alliance of post-Francoist proto-parties. The new party combined the conservative AP with several small Christian democratic and liberal parties (the party call this fusion of views "the Reformist Centre"). The Spanish school students' union is a student organization in Spain. It organises students in compulsory secondary education, baccalaureate, professional and university education; both public and private. It has about 20,000 members and has 3 of the 8 student representatives in the State School Board. It was founded in 1986 by members of the organization currently called Izquierda Revolucionaria. Its legal status comes from Organic Law of Education of the Organic Law of the Right to Education. Committee For A Worker's International
The Committee for a Workers' International (CWI) was an international association of Trotskyist political parties. Today, two groups claim to be the continuation of the CWI. History Founding The origins of the CWI can be traced to a group of British trotskyists which were expelled from the USFI in 1965, after disagreements regarding the Colonial Revolution, Gurrilerism, Studentism and the post war boom. But it is not till 1974 that they set about building an international. The founding conference of the CWI was held in London on 20 to 21 April 1974 and attended by supporters of what was then called Militant (or the Militant tendency), from 12 countries including Britain, Ireland and Sweden. In the early years of the international, sections generally pursued a policy of entryism into social democratic or labour parties. The Revolutionary Marxist Current ( es, Corriente Marxista Revolucionaria, CMR) is a Trotskyist tendency within the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV). Ideology The CMR's position is that of support for the Bolivarian Revolution, while pointing out that the only way forward for the revolution is the nationalization of the commanding heights of the economy under workers' control. ''Socialist Appeal'' is the newspaper of the British section of the International Marxist Tendency, and also the name used by a group of members and supporters of the Labour Party who organise around the paper. Alan Woods (politician)
Alan Woods (born 23 October 1944) is a British Trotskyist political theorist and author. He is one of the leading members of the International Marxist Tendency (IMT) as well as of its British affiliate group Socialist Appeal. He is political editor of the IMT's ''In Defence of Marxism'' website. Woods was a leading supporter within the Militant tendency within the Labour Party and its parent group the Committee for a Workers' International until the early 1990s. A series of disagreements on tactics and theory led to Woods and Ted Grant leaving the CWI, to found the Committee for a Marxist International (soon renamed International Marxist Tendency) in 1992. They continued with the policy of entryism into the Labour Party.
