Revathi Thirunal Balagopal Varma
His Highness Revathi Thirunal Balagopal Varma (b. 1953), son of Princess Uthram Thirunal Lalithamba Bayi (1923-2008) and Uthrittathi Nal Kerala Varma Koil Thampuran, is the titular Elayaraja of Travancore. Revathi Thirunal is the grandson of the last Regent Maharani of Travancore, H.H. Sree Padmanabhasevini Maharani Sree Pooradom Thirunal Sethu Lakshmi Bayi. He is also the great great grandson of the legendary artist Raja Ravi Varma and brother of Rukmini Varma. His cousin is the novelist and writer Shreekumar Varma. Travancore
The Kingdom of Travancore ( /ˈtrævənkɔːr/), also known as the Kingdom of Thiruvithamkoor, was an Indian kingdom from c. 1729 until 1949. It was ruled by the Travancore Royal Family from Padmanabhapuram, and later Thiruvananthapuram. Sethu Lakshmi Bayi
Pooradam Thirunal Sethu Lakshmi Bayi CI (5 November 1895– 22 February 1985) was the monarch, though designated as the Regent due to British policy, of the Kingdom of Travancore in southern India between 1924 and 1931. She, along with her younger cousin, Moolam Thirunal Sethu Parvathi Bayi, were adopted into the Travancore Royal Family and were the granddaughters of the celebrated painter, Raja Ravi Varma. In 1924, Maharajah Moolam Thirunal died and his grand nephew and the heir to the throne, Sree Chithira Thirunal, was just 12 years old then. A regency became necessary, since the Maharajah was still a minor. Since Travancore royal family followed the matrilineal system, Sethu Lakshmi Bayi was the head of the family. Raja Ravi Varma
Raja Ravi Varma ( ml, രാജാ രവിവർമ്മ; 29 April 1848 – 2 October 1906) was an Indian painter and artist. He is considered among the greatest painters in the history of Indian art. His works are one of the best examples of the fusion of European academic art with a purely Indian sensibility and iconography. Specially, he was notable for making affordable lithographs of his paintings available to the public, which greatly enhanced his reach and influence as a painter and public figure. Rukmini Varma (born 1940) is an Indian artist based in Bangalore. Life She was born as Bharani Thirunal Rukmini Bayi, Fourth Princess of Travancore to Princess Uthram Thirunal Lalithamba Bayi and Sri Kerala Varma Koil Thampuran Avargal, she is a granddaughter of Maharani Sethu Lakshmi Bayi and belongs to the Travancore Royal Family. Her great great grandfather was Raja Ravi Varma. Her father Kerala Varma is an artist specializing in charcoal and pencil sketches while her son Jay Varma is a colored pencil artist. In the 1970s she was a member of the advisory council for the Chittrakala Parishat of Bangalore and is currently Chairperson of the Raja Ravi Varma Heritage Foundation, Bangalore, which she founded in September 2015. Moolam Thirunal Rama Varma
Sree Padmanabhadasa Sree Moolam Thirunal Rama Varma (born 1949) is the current titular Maharajah of Travancore. He is the youngest of the four children of the former titular Maharani of Travancore, Sree Padmanabhasevini Maharani Karthika Thirunal Lakshmi Bayi and her husband, Prince Consort Lt. Col. G. V. Padmanabhaswamy Temple
The Shree Padmanabhaswamy Temple is a Hindu temple located in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of the state of Kerala, India. The name of the city of 'Thiruvananthapuram' in Tamil and Malayalam translates to "The City of Lord Ananta" (The City Of the infinite Shesh Naag). The temple is built in an intricate fusion of the Chera style and the Dravidian style of architecture, featuring high walls, and a 16th-century gopura. Bishop Cotton Boys' School is an all-boys school for boarders and day scholars in Bangalore, India, founded in the memory of Bishop George Edward Lynch Cotton, Bishop of Calcutta.
