2006 Iranian Assembly Of Experts Election
The fourth Iranian Assembly of Experts election was held on 15 December 2006. The Assembly of Experts is a Council of 86 '' mujtahids'' that elect the Supreme Leader, and oversee his actions. The members of the Assembly are elected every eight years directly by the people of Iran. The elections took place the same day as the City and Village Councils elections. Candidates The credentials of being a Mujtahid were approved for all candidates by the Guardian Council using written and oral (interview) examinations. Some members of the Guardian Council also ran for the Assembly of Experts. Although there were a few female ayatollahs ( Mujtahidehs) applying for candidacy, they could not pass the examination. The number of candidates which passed the examination was so low that the council had to lower the passing mark several times. There were initially 144 candidates for the 86 available seats. Seyyed Hashem Hosseini Bushehri ( fa, سید هاشم حسینی بوشهری) is an Iranian Twelver Shia cleric who was born in 1956 in Bandar-e Deyr, Bushehr province. Hosseini Bushehri is the representative of Bushehr province in the Assembly of Experts; he is also the Temporary Imam of Friday Prayer in Qom. Life Seyyed Hashem Hosseini Bushehri was born in Bordkhun, locating around Bandar-e Deyr in Bushehr province. His father was a cleric and farmer. His mother was the daughter of an Islamic Shia scholar. Hosseini Bushehri went to Hawzah after passing his elementary school. Karamatollah Malek-Hosseini
Seyed Ayatollah Karamatollah Malek-Hosseini (1924 – 2 November 2012) ( fa, سید کرامت‌الله ملک‌حسینی) was an Iranian Ayatollah and member of the Second, Third and Fourth terms of the Assembly of Experts. Biography Karamatollah Malek Hosseini was born in a village called Gusheh-ye Shahzadeh Qasem in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province to a religious family in 1924. His father Seyed Sadr-Aldin Malek-Hosseini was a prominent cleric in Boyer-Ahmad. He studied Islam in both Shiraz and Qom. During the Iranian Revolution he was a critic of the Pahlavi regime and was arrested by SAVAK. Abolghasem Wafi Yazdi
Ayatollah Abolghasem Wafi Yazdi ( fa, ابوالقاسم وافی یزدی), born in 1935, in Hoseynabad, Yazd, is a Shia cleric and member of the Assembly of Experts. Ayatollah Mohammad Momen (13 January 1938 – 21 February 2019) was a Faqih (a cleric qualified to judge based on Islamic law) and a very influential member of the Guardian Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Seyed Mohammad Shahcheraghi , (born 10 June 1934) is an Iranian Ayatollah. He represented the Supreme Leader of Iran in Semnan province, as well being the Imam of Friday Prayer in Semnan.
