Representative Ensemble Of The Bulgarian Armed Forces
The Representative Ensemble of the Bulgarian Armed Forces () is a Bulgarian military choir which is subordinated to the National Guards Unit of Bulgaria. It is currently made up of 23 professional singers. It was founded in 1944 by Dragan Prokopiev as the Ensemble of the Bulgarian People's Army. At the time, the choir recruited some the most famous Bulgarian singers such as Dimitar Uzunov and . In 1962, a Pop Music ensemble was founded at the Theatre of the People's Army in Sofia, and was incorporated into the Song and Dance ensemble in 1977. Dragan Prokopiev Vasilev ( bg, Драган Прокопиев Василев), better known as Dragan Prokopiev, is a Bulgarian choir conductor and music pedagogue. He obtained the title "honoured artist" in 1965. Biography Prokopiev was born on 18 July 1904 in Kyustendil, Bulgaria to a teacher's family. After finishing secondary school, in 1923, he moved to Leipzig to study the violin with H. The Bulgarian People's Army ( bg, Българска народна армия, БНА, translit=Balgarska narodna armiya, BNA) was the army of the People's Republic of Bulgaria.
