Repercussions (band)
Repercussions were an American R&B, soul and acid jazz group of the 1990s at Giant Step, formed by former Groove Collective members, New York native vocalist, rapper, drummer and music producer Genji Siraisi. (who is Japanese American and Russian), Russian/Jewish vocalist Itaal Shur, African-American R&B singers Nicole Willis and Mark Anthony Jones, African-American percussionist Gordon "Nappy G" Clay and Jewish American bass player Jonathan Maron The group also consisted of other underground soul and jazz musicians and performers in the New York area. The group released two albums, which only their debut did somewhat moderately well commercially. Other members include Aya, Andy Faranda, and Daniel Wyatt. Career Genji Sirasi, who was a former member of Groove Collective, formed his own musical ensemble, putting together former Groove Collective members, Itaal Shur, Nicole Willis, Mark Anthony Jones, Gordon "Nappy G" Clay and Jonathan Maron. ''Earth and Heaven'' is the debut album by the American acid jazz band Repercussions, released in 1995. The album was recorded after the release of Groove Collective's debut album; the bands shared many members. Production The album was produced by Gary Katz, Genji Siraisi, Daniel Wyatt, and the band. Singer Nicole Willis wrote many of the lyrics to the songs. Keyboardist Joe Sample, trumpetist Jerry Hay, and saxophonist Michael Blake performed on ''Earth and Heaven''. Critical reception The ''Pittsburgh Post-Gazette'' wrote: "A yuppie fantasy of different music and sterile lyrics, ''Earth and Heaven'' combines an electronic string section and an incredibly annoying wah-wah guitar to the tune of 10 excruciating tracks—none of which dares for the least bit of emotionalism." AllMusic (previously known as All Music Guide and AMG) is an American online music database. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Initiated in 1991, the database was first made available on the Internet in 1994. AllMusic is owned by RhythmOne. History AllMusic was launched as ''All Music Guide'' by Michael Erlewine, a "compulsive archivist, noted astrologer, Buddhist scholar and musician". Gary Katz
Gary Katz is an American record producer, best known for his work on albums by Steely Dan. Katz has also produced numerous other recording artists and assisted in the discovery and signing of a number of subsequently successful acts. Career A lifelong music fan, Katz grew up in Brooklyn listening to Chuck Berry and Fats Domino on a transistor radio. He had friends in the band Jay and the Americans who were his connection to the music business. The band worked with Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, who produced hit records for the Coasters and the Drifters. After Katz spent time with Leiber and Stoller in the studio, he realized he wanted to be a record producer. His first job after graduating from school was with singer Bobby Darin.
