Renée Gertrude Taylor (born 1929), known mononymously as Renée, is a New Zealand feminist writer and playwright. Renée is of Māori (Ngāti Kahungunu), Irish, English, and Scottish ancestry, and has described herself as a "lesbian feminist with socialist working-class ideals". She wrote her first play, ''Setting the Table'', in 1981. Many of her plays have been published, with extracts included in ''Intimate Acts'', a collection of lesbian plays published by Brito and Lair, New York. The film is based on the life of troubled teenager Renee Yohe and the founding of To Write Love on Her Arms by Jamie Tworkowski, after he and others helped Yohe to overcome her challenges enough to be able to enter rehab. Renée Richards (born August 19, 1934) is an American ophthalmologist and former tennis player who competed on the professional circuit in the 1970s, and became widely known following male-to-female sex reassignment surgery, when she fought to compete as a woman in the 1976 US Open. The United States Tennis Association began that year requiring genetic screening for female players. She challenged that policy, and the New York Supreme Court ruled in her favor, a landmark case in transgender rights. As one of the first professional athletes to identify as transgender, she became a spokesperson for transgender people in sports. After retiring as a player, she coached Martina Navratilova to two Wimbledon titles. ''Renee Geyer'' is the debut studio album by Australian soul/R&B singer Renée Geyer. The album was released in September 1973. Background and release In 1970, Geyer's singing career began as a vocalist with jazz/blues band Dry Red. She departed Dry Red and joined the jazz/rock group Sun. Sun released the album ''Sun 1972'' in August 1972, by which time, Geyer had already left and joined Mother Earth. Mother Earth consisted of Geyer, Jim Kelly on guitar, David Lindsay on bass guitar, John Proud on drums and Mark Punch on guitar and vocals. Geyer signed with RCA Records in 1972 and she insisted that Mother Earth accompany her on the album. The album ''Renée Geyer'' was recorded in ATA Studios, Sydney and released in September 1973. Renee Olstead (born June 18, 1989) is an American actress and singer. Active since childhood as an actress, she is best known for her roles on the CBS sitcom '' Still Standing'' and on the ABC Family drama ''The Secret Life of the American Teenager'' as Madison Cooperstein. SALES (stylized in all caps) is an American guitar-based indie pop band from Orlando, Florida. The band's members are musicians Lauren Morgan and Jordan Shih. They are joined on tour by Malcolm Martin, who serves as the live drummer and percussionist.
