Renato Rocha (bassist)
Renato da Silva Rocha (May 27, 1961 – February 22, 2015), affectionately known as Billy or Negrete by his close friends, was a Brazilian musician and songwriter famous for being the bassist of influential rock band Legião Urbana from 1984 until 1989. He helped to compose some of the band's most memorable songs, such as "Angra dos Reis", "Acrilic on Canvas", "Quase sem Querer" and "Daniel na Cova dos Leões". Biography Early life Renato da Silva Rocha was born in Rio de Janeiro, in the ''bairro'' of São Cristóvão, on May 27, 1961, but his family had to move to Brasília in 1970, when he was nine years old, after his father, a military, was transferred there. Legião Urbana (Portuguese for Urban Legion) was a Brazilian rock band formed in 1982 in Brasília, Distrito Federal. The band primarily consisted of Renato Russo (vocals, bass and keyboards), Dado Villa-Lobos (guitar) and Marcelo Bonfá (drums). In its earlier days, Legião Urbana also had a full-time bassist, Renato Rocha, but he left the band due to creative divergences. ''Legião Urbana'' () is the self-titled debut album by Brazilian rock band Legião Urbana. It was released on 1 January 1985. "Será" was selected as the album's first single and it received a video, shot on May 25, 26 and 27, 1985 at the nightclub Rose Bom Bom, in São Paulo, directed by Toniko Melo. All tracks were already ready before the album's sessions, except for "Por Enquanto". ''Legião Urbana'' sold a total of 550,000 copies and, in 2007, the Brazilian edition of ''Rolling Stone'' magazine elected ''Legião Urbana'' as 40th in the 100 Greatest Brazilian Music Records. Marcelo Bonfá
Marcelo Augusto Bonfá (born January 30, 1965), also known simply as Bonfá, is a Brazilian musician. Famous for being the drummer of Brazilian rock band Legião Urbana, after its disbanding he pursued a solo career, and has released three albums. Biography Bonfá was born in the city of Itapira, in the State of São Paulo, on January 30, 1965. His father was an employee of the Banco do Brasil, and in 1977, Bonfá's family moved to Brasília. Bonfá played for the bands Blitz 64 and Dado e o Reino Animal (where he would meet future Legião Urbana member Dado Villa-Lobos) before forming Legião Urbana alongside Renato Russo in 1982. He stayed with Legião until its disestablishment in 1996. In 2000, Bonfá released his first solo album, named '' O Barco Além do Sol'' (''The Boat Beyond the Sun''). ''Aborto'' is a Bengali film released on 1 March 2013 and directed by Arindam Sil in his directorial debut. According to Sil, this film would be the greatest tribute to Satyajit Ray that has ever been made. The film stars Bangladesh actress Jaya Ahsan, Tota Roy Chowdhury and Abir Chatterjee in lead roles. Renato Russo (born Renato Manfredini, Jr., March 27, 1960 – October 11, 1996) was a Brazilian singer and songwriter. He was the lead singer of the alternative rock band Legião Urbana. A Brazilian film depicting his life and career was released in 2013, called '' Somos Tão Jovens (We Are So Young)''. Childhood Renato Manfredini Jr. was born in Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro. He started his studies at an early age, at Colégio Olavo Billac. During this period he wrote an essay titled "Old house, in ruins". His father was an executive at Banco do Brasil, and the family moved to Forest Hills, Queens, New York in 1967, when he was assigned a job in the city.
