"Regret" is a song by British alternative rock band New Order. It was released on 5 April 1993 as the lead single from their sixth studio album, ''Republic'' (1993). Stephen Hague is credited as both the producer and as a co-writer. It was the band's first single released on CentreDate Co Ltd (through London Records) following the collapse of Factory Records. The song was a critical and commercial success, reaching the top 10 in Canada, Ireland, Portugal and the United Kingdom. It peaked at number 28 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100—New Order's highest placement on that chart—and reached number one on two other ''Billboard'' charts. New Order (band)
New Order are an English rock band formed in 1980 by vocalist and guitarist Bernard Sumner, bassist Peter Hook and drummer Stephen Morris. The members regrouped after the demise of their previous band Joy Division due to the suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis. They were joined by Gillian Gilbert on keyboards later that year. New Order's integration of post-punk with electronic and dance music made them one of the most acclaimed and influential bands of the 1980s. They were the flagship band for Manchester-based independent record label Factory Records and its nightclub The Haçienda, and they worked in long-term collaboration with graphic designer Peter Saville. Terry Farley is a British DJ, remixer and producer from London, active since the mid-1980s. Career Farley started out going to clubs in the late 1970s and first visited Ibiza in 1982. He then started working as a DJ, performing at the same clubs and shows as Paul Oakenfold. Fire Island are an English house music duo, made up of producers and remixers Pete Heller and Terry Farley. Both are prolific musicians who have an extensive list of remixes to their credit, using the Fire Island moniker and also being billed as Heller & Farley Project, Roach Motel or Farley & Heller. As Fire Island, they hit number one on the US Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in 1998 with " Shout to the Top", a song originally recorded by the Style Council in 1984 and with lead vocals supplied by Loleatta Holloway.
