Red Bank, New Brunswick
Red Bank, New Brunswick is a small rural community (unincorporated area) in Northumberland County, New Brunswick, Canada. It is located approximately 20 km west of Miramichi, New Brunswick, at the mouth of the Little Southwest Miramichi River, at its confluence with the Northwest Miramichi River. The community lies on the southwest bank of the NW Miramichi and opposite its sister community Sunny Corner around the intersection of Route 420 and Route 425. A post office has existed here since 1854. In 1871 Red Bank had a population of 175, and in 1898 Red Bank had a population of 200. The community now counts a population of 398 people as of 2020, and goes up and down depending on season (with a high population during Summer). Northumberland County is located in northeastern New Brunswick, Canada. Geography Northumberland County is covered by thick forests, whose products stimulate the economy. Little Southwest Miramichi River
The Little Southwest Miramichi River is a river in Northumberland County, New Brunswick, Canada. In Mi'kmaq it is referred to as "Tooadook". This river has its origins at Gover Lake in the Miramichi Highlands, part of the Appalachian Mountains. The river flows between the Northwest Miramichi River, to its north, and the Renous River to its south. It joins the Northwest Miramichi River at Red Bank, whereas the Renous River joins the Southwest Miramichi River at Renous. The Northwest Miramichi River then joins the Southwest Miramichi River at Newcastle to form the Miramichi River. The river is noted for Atlantic Salmon fishing. Sunny Corner, New Brunswick
Sunny Corner, New Brunswick is a rural settlement in Northumberland County, New Brunswick, Canada. It is located approximately 35 km west of Miramichi, New Brunswick, on the northeast bank of the Northwest Miramichi River, opposite, Red Bank. The community has an Irving gas station, a Royal Canadian Legion, a Lions Club, a police station serviced by the RCMP, a volunteer fire department, a hockey rink, and a seniors home. The local service district of Sunny Corner takes its name from the community. In 2022 the community, including the whole local service district, was amalgamated into the Miramichi River Valley municipality. Route 420 is a long mostly east–west secondary highway in the northwest portion of New Brunswick, Canada. The route's eastern terminus starts on Route 108 between the community of McGraw Brook and Flat Landing. The road travels north before turning north-easterly following the South Bank of the Little Southwest Miramichi River through the mostly treed area to the community of Harris Brook Settlement. The road continues north east to the community of Matthews then passing by the community of Lyttleton. The road continues north east passing Gibbons Island to the community of Sillikers. Charles Hubbard (politician)
Charles Isaac Hubbard, (October 29, 1940 – February 12, 2020) was a Canadian politician. Hubbard was a member of the Liberal Party of Canada. He was a former member of the House of Commons of Canada, representing the riding of Miramichi, New Brunswick from 1993 to 2008. Hubbard was a former school principal. He was a former Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Transport during the government of Paul Martin. Hubbard was born in Newcastle, New Brunswick. In 1961, he graduated from the Royal Canadian School of Infantry and served briefly with Canadian Guards in Germany and later as a platoon officer, quartermaster, adjutant, company commander and Deputy commander of 2 Royal New Brunswick Regiment (NS).
