Raymond Brucker
Raymond Brucker, full name Raymond Philippe Auguste Brucker (5 May 1800, Paris – 28 February 1875, Paris), was a 19th-century French writer. A fan-worker then an essayist and homme de lettres, he converted to Catholicism in 1839. He was professor of philosophy. He wrote under various pseudonyms (Paul Séverin, Aloysius Block, Champercier, Duvernay, Ch. Dupuy, Olibrius), and in collaboration with Michel Masson (1800–1883) and with Léon Gozlan under the pseudonym ''Michel Raymond''. Auguste-Michel-Benoît Gaudichot pseudonym: Michel Masson (31 July 1800 – 12 thermidor an VIII- – 23 April 1883) was a French playwright, journalist and novelist of the 19th century. Biography A worker's son, he began acting at age 10 and played the roles of children in several plays. He was danser at the Théâtre Monthabor, but he had only little success. So he stopped as a danser, and took a job as an apprentice in a bookshop. There he saw other starting authors like M.Champfleury. Masson liked reading books, and he started writing too. But he did not like the commercial side of his job. He worked a time as a café waiter. Léon Gozlan
Léon Gozlan (11 September 1803 – 14 September 1866) was a 19th-century French novelist and playwright. Life When he was still a boy, his father, who had made a large fortune as a ship-broker, met with a series of misfortunes, and Léon, before completing his education, had to go to sea in order to earn a living. In 1828 we find him in Paris, determined to run the risks of literary life. His townsman, Joseph Méry, who was then making himself famous by his political satires, introduced him to several newspapers, and Gozlan's brilliant articles in ''Le Figaro'' did much harm to the already tottering government of Charles X. He was made a member of the Legion of Honour in 1846, and in 1859 an officer of that order.
