Ravensburg
Ravensburg ( Swabian: ''Raveschburg'') is a city in Upper Swabia in Southern Germany, capital of the district of Ravensburg, Baden-Württemberg. Ravensburg was first mentioned in 1088. In the Middle Ages, it was an Imperial Free City and an important trading centre. The "Great Ravensburg Trading Society" (''Große Ravensburger Handelsgesellschaft'') owned shops and trading companies all over Europe. The historic city centre is still very much intact, including three city gates and over 10 towers of the medieval fortification. Ravensberg Basin
The Ravensberg Basin (german: Ravensberger Mulde) or Ravensberg Hills () is a natural region in the governorate of Detmold () in the northeastern part of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia; small elements also fall within the neighbouring state of Lower Saxony. It is part of the lower Weser Uplands and includes the hilly basin country between the Wiehen Hills in the north, Lippe Uplands in the east, Teutoburg Forest in the south and Osnabrück Hills in the west. The heart of the Ravensberg Basin is almost coincident with the cultural region of the Ravensberg Land. ''Ravensburg'' is the fourth studio album by Norwegian jazz musician Mathias Eick. The album was released by the label ECM Records on . Background Eick originally planned to name the album ''Family'', but he soon realized that there are so many other albums with that title. Therefore, he opted instead for ''Ravensburg'', the Swabian town in Germany from which his grandmother came. Reception Thomas Conrad of ''JazzTimes'' noted "''Ravensburg'', his fourth ECM album as a leader, reveals gradual, intelligent growth. His primary asset is still his trumpet sound, one of the purest, most radiant in jazz. His lyricism is still mysteriously provisional. No one plays trumpet lines like Eick’s. The FV Ravensburg is a German association football club from the town of Ravensburg, Baden-Württemberg. The club's greatest success has been to play in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg, the highest football league in the state, of which it became a founding member in 1978. It played at this level from 1978 to 1983, 1998 to 2000 and, again, since 2013. Margaret of Ravensberg ( – 13 February 1389) was the daughter and heiress of Otto IV, Count of Ravensberg and Margaret of Berg-Windeck.Walther Möller, ''Stammtafeln westdeutscher Adelsgeschlechter im Mittelalter'' (Darmstadt, 1922, reprint Verlag Degener & Co., 1995), Vol. 3, page 211. Ravensburg State Park
Ravensburg State Park is a Pennsylvania state park in Crawford Township in Clinton County, Pennsylvania in the United States. It is in a gorge carved by Rauchtown Run through the side of Nippenose Mountain. Ravensburg State Park is of wooded land that is almost entirely surrounded by Tiadaghton State Forest. This state park is on Pennsylvania Route 880, north of Carroll and south-east of Jersey Shore. The nearest city is Williamsport. Minden-Ravensberg
Minden-Ravensberg was a Prussian administrative unit consisting of the Principality of Minden and the County of Ravensberg from 1719–1807. The capital was Minden. In 1807 the region became part of the Kingdom of Westphalia, a client state of Napoleonic France. The territory was restored to Prussia after the Napoleonic Wars and became part of the Minden Region within the new Prussian Province of Westphalia in 1815. Geography The province consisted of what is now the Ravensberg Land, between the Teutoburg Forest and the Wiehen Hills, and the Minden Land, north of the Wiehengebirge to the North German lowlands. Minden-Ravensberg was bounded to the east by the Weser, while other important rivers were the Westphalian Aa and the Else. Ravensberg Land
Ravensberg Land (german: Ravensberger Land) is a cultural landscape in the district of Ostwestfalen-Lippe in the northeast of the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It lies between the Wiehen Hills to the north, the Teutoburg Forest to the south, the state border with Lower Saxony to the west and the large bend in the River Weser and the boundary of Lippe district to the east. It thus essentially encompasses the Westphalian part of the Ravensberg Hills. The most important towns are Bielefeld (northern and central quarters), Herford, Bad Oeynhausen and Bünde. The area is characterised by long-standing, intensive farming in its loess, hill country, a wide range of industry and a high population density. Ravensberg (Harz)
The Ravensberg is a 659 m high mountain in the South Harz mountains in the German state of Lower Saxony. It is relatively isolated and visible for a long way. It lies in the district of Göttingen, north of Bad Sachsa. The mountain top is crowned with a prominent 64 m high tower, which was built in 1970. This tower acted as a listening post during the Cold War; today it is used by Deutsche Telekom. The Ravensberg is a wonderful viewing point, and is also very easy to get to by car, a road about 3.5 km long, running up to the summit from Bad Sachsa. There is an old boundary stone, the ''Dreiherrenstein'', on this road shortly before the summit. Until 1866 this was where the borders of the Kingdom of Prussia, Kingdom of Hanover and Duchy of Brunswick met.
