Raphael Trotman
Raphael Trotman (born 1966) is a Guyana, Guyanese lawyer and politician. He was the List of Speakers of the National Assembly of Guyana, Speaker of the National Assembly of Guyana from 2011 to 2015. He was the country's Minister for Natural Resources from 2015 to 2020. A former executive member of the People's National Congress (Guyana), People's National Congress Reform, Trotman co-founded the Alliance for Change (Guyana), Alliance For Change (AFC) in 2005 along with Khemraj Ramjattan and Sheila Holder. Officially launched on October 29, 2005, the AFC received 8.3% of the national vote and won 5 of the 65 seats in the Elections in Guyana, August 2006 elections, becoming the third largest political party in Guyana. The Speaker is the presiding officer of the National Assembly (Guyana), National Assembly in Guyana. The post was created in 1966 when the National Assembly came into being, although previous legislatures including the Legislative Council (British Guiana), Legislative Council, House of Assembly (British Guiana), House of Assembly, and the Legislative Assembly (British Guiana), Legislative Assembly also had Speakers. Hari Narayen Ramkaran (born 11 August 1946), known as Ralph Ramkarran, is a Guyanese politician and lawyer. He served as Speaker of the National Assembly of Guyana from 2001 to 2011. The Alliance for Change (AFC) is a political party in Guyana. The People's National Congress Reform is a social-democratic and democratic socialist political party in Guyana led by Aubrey Norton. The party currently holds 31 of the 65 seats in the National Assembly.
