Raio-X Do Brasil
''Raio-X do Brasil'' (X-Ray of Brazil) is the third album of the Brazilian hip hop group Racionais Mc's, released in 1993. In 1993, Racionais Mc's were already popular in the outskirts of São Paulo. That year, they recorded their third album, Raio-X do Brasil. The album was released at a party, with an estimated crowd of 10,000 people in the court of the samba school Rosas De Ouro. The most successful songs from this album were 'Fim De Semana No Parque' (Weekend in the Park) and 'Homem Na Estrada' (Man On The Road), both by Mano Brown, which became anthems at hip-hop parties and on radio stations throughout the country. It is considered to be the record that made rap one of the most popular genres in Brazil. According to the DJ of Racionais Mc's, Kl Jay, Raio-X do Brasil sold 200,000 copies. Brazilian Hip Hop
Brazilian hip hop is a national music genre in Brazil. From its earliest days in the African-Brazilian communities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, the genre has grown into a countrywide phenomena. Rappers, DJs, break dancers and graffiti artists are active across the complete spectrum of society blending Brazil's cultural heritage with American hip hop to form a contemporary musical fusion. History Precursors Many believe that even before the consolidation of the American hip hop scene, similar forms of rhythm and poetry were already manifesting in Brazil. The first form of poetic improvisation appeared in the northeast of the country (in the region of Teixeira, Paraíba) in the 19th century. Pedro Paulo Soares Pereira (born 22 April 1970, São Paulo, Brazil), better known by the artistic name Mano Brown, is a Brazilian rapper, music producer and founding member of the hip hop group Racionais MC's, along with Ice Blue (Paulo Eduardo Salvador), Edi Rock (Edivaldo Pereira Alves) and KL Jay (Kleber Geraldo Lelis Simões). In 2008, ''Rolling Stone'' chose the 100 greatest artists in Brazilian music; Mano Brown was 28th. His debut solo album ''Boogie Naipe'' was nominated for the 2017 Latin Grammy Award for Best Portuguese Language Contemporary Pop Album. Marvin Gaye
Marvin Pentz Gay Jr., who also spelled his surname as Gaye (April 2, 1939 – April 1, 1984), was an American singer and songwriter. He helped to shape the sound of Motown in the 1960s, first as an in-house session player and later as a solo artist with a string of successes, earning him the nicknames "Prince of Motown" and "Prince of Soul". Gaye's Motown songs include "Ain't That Peculiar", "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)", and "I Heard It Through the Grapevine". Tim Maia (, born Sebastião Rodrigues Maia; September 28, 1942 – March 15, 1998) was a Brazilian musician, songwriter, and businessman known for his iconoclastic, ironic, outspoken, and humorous musical style. "Cissy Strut" is a 1969 funk instrumental by The Meters. Released as a single from their eponymous debut album, it reached No. 4 on the R&B chart and No. 23 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100.
