Rail transport in Sweden uses a network of 15006.25 km of track, the 22nd largest in the world. Construction of the first railway line in Sweden began in 1855. Skånetrafiken
Skånetrafiken is the regional public transit district in Skåne län, in the south of Sweden. Skånetrafiken was founded in 1999 when the two counties Kristianstads län and Malmöhus län were merged into one region, causing the two respective transport authorities for each previous county to be amalgamated. Presently, Skånetrafiken is a part of the regional government of Region Skåne. The main office is located in Hässleholm with a second office in Lund. The managing director of Skånetrafiken is Magnus Hedin. Public transport services Skånetrafiken organise train services on several lines within Skåne, called Pågatåg, which are currently delivered under contract by Arriva. These are supplemented by the Öresundståg, regional train services managed by Skånetrafikken, which cross into Denmark and neighbouring counties in Sweden. Stockholm City Station is a railway station in central Stockholm, Sweden. Opened on 10 July 2017, the station is located on the Stockholm City Line and is located directly below T-Centralen (the hub of the Stockholm Metro) and interchange with Stockholm Central Station. The station serves all Stockholm Commuter Rail trains. It is the busiest railway station in Sweden (not counting the metro). Storlien
Storlien is a village and ski resort located in Åre municipality in Jämtland, Sweden, two kilometres from the Swedish-Norwegian border. The primary bases of the settlement are tourism and outdoor life – alpine skiing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, hunting, fishing and hiking. During the 2000s, retail sales to customers from Norway become important, and most of the tourists in Storlien are Norwegians. The Swedish royal family has a house in Storlien, where they usually celebrate Easter and the New Year. There was also previously a sanitarium. Storlien was formerly the centre of winter activities for , now , an organisation that promotes outdoor leisure, and played a major role in developing downhill skiing in Sweden. Hallandsås Tunnel
The Hallandsås Tunnel ( sv, Hallandsåstunneln), also known as the Hallandsås Ridge Tunnel or Scanlink, is a railway tunnel in Sweden. It connects the northern and the southern sides of the Hallandsås geological formation (a horst). The length is ( in one bore, in the other). It's utilised by the West Coast Line, on the section between Ängelholm and Halmstad in southwestern Sweden. It has improved the connection between the cities of Gothenburg, Sweden, and Copenhagen, Denmark. In the longer term it will be a key component in the proposed Oslo to Hamburg high speed rail link via Gothenburg, Malmö and Copenhagen. Östgötapendeln is a commuter rail system that stretches from the historical provinces Östergötland into Småland in Sweden. Östgötapendeln started its operation June 12, 1995 with the line Norrköping-Linköping-Mjölby-Tranås. In 2010–2015 Östgötapendeln trains continued to Nässjö and Jönköping. They have since been replaced by Krösatågen there. A second line, Norrköping-Linköping-Mjölby-Motala, opened in April 2013, with two new stops at Skänninge and Motala. The frequency of the service is 4 trains an hour between Norrköping and Mjölby in peak hours, with 2 going to Motala and 2 to Tranås. Øresundståg
Øresundståg (, ) is a passenger train network operated by Skånetrafiken and Transdev in the transnational Øresund Region of Denmark and Sweden. The name is a hybrid of the Danish ''Øresundstog'' and the Swedish ''Öresundståg'', both meaning "Øresund train". The rolling stock, also known as Class ET in Denmark and X31K in Sweden, are electric passenger trainsets in the Flexliner family. Operations Three trains per hour cross the Øresund Bridge each way. Trains run at 20-minute intervals between Østerport via Copenhagen in Denmark to Malmö and Lund in southern Sweden, increasing to six trains per hour during rush hours. Västtrafik
Västtrafik is the agency responsible for public transport services involving buses, ferries, trains, and the Gothenburg tram network in the county of Västra Götaland, Sweden (plus Kungsbacka Municipality). It was established with the Västra Götaland County on 1 January 1998. Until 31 December 2011 the ownership was shared equally between the Västra Götaland Regional Council and the 49 municipalities in the region, from 1 January 2012 the county council is the sole owner. The fleet consists of approximately 1900 vehicles. Operation Västtrafik is the brand name which is printed on tickets and vehicles. Vygruppen, branded as Vy, is a government-owned railway company which operates most passenger train services and many bus services in Norway. The company is owned by the Ministry of Transport (Norway), Norwegian Ministry of Transport. Its sub-brands include Vy Buss coach services, CargoNet freight trains and the Swedish train transport company Tågkompaniet. In 2009, NSB carried 52 million train passengers and 104 million bus passengers. On 24 April 2019, passenger train and bus services were rebranded as Vy. The company was established as the Norwegian State Railways (1883–1996).
