Radio Clyde
Radio Clyde is a group of two Independent Local Radio stations serving Glasgow and West Central Scotland. Radio Clyde is owned and operated by Bauer Media Audio UK, Bauer, based at studios in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire and forms part of Bauer's Hits Radio and Greatest Hits Radio Network of local stations. History Radio Clyde began broadcasting as the commercial radio station in Scotland at 10.30pm on Monday 31 December 1973. It was the first ILR station outside London, on 261 metres medium wave and 95.1 FM (later moving to 102.5 FM). Its original slogan was ''Radio Clyde, 261, all together now''. The station's studios were originally located at the Anderston, Anderston Centre complex within Glasgow city centre, but moved to its current site at Clydebank in 1983. Scottish Radio Holdings
Scottish Radio Holdings (SRH) was a Scottish media company which owned 22 radio stations, and around 30 local newspapers in the United Kingdom and Ireland. History SRH had its origins in the 1970s when Glasgow was awarded the third licence for a commercial station in the UK. As a result, in 1973 Radio Clyde began broadcasting. Unlike the two existing commercial stations (both in London), Radio Clyde was an immediate success. This was helped in part by strong financial backers that included Sean Connery and Jackie Stewart. In 1991 laws controlling the ownership of commercial stations were relaxed. Clyde merged with Radio Forth to form SRH and immediately floated on the London Stock Exchange. In 1995 it acquired Morton Newspapers which owned around 20 newspapers in Northern Ireland. Since then SRH expanded operations by acquiring further publications in Scotland and Ireland. ''Lorraine'' is a British breakfast television programme that is broadcast on ITV. Launched on 6 September 2010, it is presented by Lorraine Kelly and broadcasts live every weekday from 9:00am to 10:00am. The programme features a variety of showbiz, fashion, health, food, celebrity interviews and competitions. The programme's run-time crosses the 9.25am ending of the official ITV Breakfast slot (6am-9.25am), which is wholly owned by ITV plc. This is why viewers in most of Scotland see ITV branding surrounding the first 25 minutes of the show, and STV branding for the remainder of the time slot. Clyde Rocks
Clyde Rocks was a trial Scottish independent local radio station serving Glasgow and West Central Scotland. The station was dedicated to rock music alongside sports news and discussion and was operated by Radio Clyde (part of Bauer Radio). The station broadcast on DAB and online for 30 days, but was axed after the trial was completed. Clyde Rocks was a contender for the then advertised 96.3FM licence for Glasgow and The West of Scotland, but however, lost out to the all new Rock Radio Glasgow. Hits Radio is a network of 25 contemporary hit radio stations in the United Kingdom, owned and operated by Bauer Media Audio UK. As of October 2022, the network has a combined reach of 6.6 million weekly listeners according to RAJAR. Bauer City 3 was a network of 12 popular mainstream music radio stations in Scotland and northern England, owned and operated by Bauer Radio. Overview From Monday 19 January 2015, The Hits on DAB was absorbed into the new Bauer City 3 network of stations. The new services were locally branded and identified, with the opportunity to split for individual local news, information, advertising and jingles, with The Hits content as a national programme feed. Programming was broadcast among all Bauer City 3 stations in Scotland and Northern England, originating from the studios of Key 103 in Castlefield and Clyde 3 in Glasgow.
