RTÉ Executive Board
The RTÉ Executive Board, despite its name, is not a board of directors, but rather is a committee composed of the senior management of the Irish public service broadcaster, Raidió Teilifís Éireann, responsible for the day-to-day running of the broadcaster. The executive board reports to the RTÉ Board through the director general. Composition The executive board is chaired by the Director-General of RTÉ, Dee Forbes. The board was made up of the managing directors of television, radio, news & current affairs, and corporate development, the chief digital officer, the chief technology officer, the chief financial officer, and the group commercial director until 2017. RTÉ Radio
RTÉ Radio is a division of the Irish national broadcasting organisation Raidió Teilifís Éireann. RTÉ Radio broadcasts four analogue channels and five digital channels nationwide. Founded in January 1926 as 2RN, the first broadcaster in the Irish Free State, in 1933 the service became Radio Athlone (Irish ''Raidió Áth Luain'') and in 1938 was renamed as Radio Éireann. In 1966, after launching a television service, it became Raidió Teilifís Éireann, or RTÉ. Mission To Prey
"Mission to Prey" is the title of an episode of the RTÉ programme '' Prime Time Investigates'' broadcast in May 2011. It told of how an Irish catholic priest in Kenya of having fathered a child by engaging in child sexual abuse. It was described as "one of the gravest editorial mistakes ever made" in the history of RTÉ broadcasting. The broadcast In January 2011 reporter Aoife Kavanagh and producer Mark Lappin, on a research trip to Kenya, believed they had found evidence of a sexual scandal involving Fr. Kevin Reynolds, an Irish Catholic priest. Their sources accused Fr. Kevin Reynolds of raping a teenage girl and fathering her child in Kenya. Kevin Reynolds is an Irish Catholic priest who was falsely alleged in a news feature on RTÉ (the national television network of Ireland) to have raped and impregnated a Kenyan teenager. IRadio
iRadio is a music-driven youth radio station broadcast in the Border, West, Mid-East and Midland regions of Ireland. The station is one of four music-driven youth stations that were licensed by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland to challenge the current duopoly in the 15-34 age bracket for those outside Dublin by national stations RTÉ 2FM and Today FM. The station, based in Athlone and broadcasting to an average listenership of 227,000, was created by the merger of i102-104FM and i105-107FM on 4 July 2011. A committee or commission is a body of one or more persons subordinate to a deliberative assembly. A committee is not itself considered to be a form of assembly. Dee Forbes
Deirdre Anne "Dee" Forbes (born 1 February 1967) has been the Director-General of RTÉ since April 2016. She is the first woman to hold the role, and the first external appointment in almost 50 years.
