''RPN NewsWatch Junior Edition'' is another installation to the longest-running news program NewsWatch (Philippine TV program), NewsWatch aired on Radio Philippines Network in the Philippines and the first reality-based TV workshop for future journalists from June 7, 2008 to August 16, 2008 and as a Magazine show on October 11, 2008. RPN NewsWatch Junior Edition reporters Nine High School students from various schools in Metro Manila were chosen from a series of tests and workshops conducted by the Radio Philippines Network News and Public Affairs to become field reporters for NewsWatch Junior Edition. 480i
480i is the video mode used for standard-definition digital television in the Caribbean, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Philippines, Laos, Western Sahara, and most of the Americas (with the exception of Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay). The ''480'' identifies a vertical resolution of 480 lines, and the ''i'' identifies it as an interlaced resolution. The field rate, which is 60 Hz (or 59.94 Hz when used with NTSC color), is sometimes included when identifying the video mode, i.e. 480i60; another notation, endorsed by both the International Telecommunication Union in BT.601 and SMPTE in SMPTE 259M, includes the frame rate, as in 480i/30. SDTV
Standard-definition television (SDTV, SD, often shortened to standard definition) is a television system which uses a resolution that is not considered to be either high or enhanced definition. "Standard" refers to it being the prevailing specification for broadcast (and later, cable) television in the mid- to late-20th century, and compatible with legacy analog broadcast systems. The two common SDTV signal types are 576i, with 576 interlaced lines of resolution, derived from the European-developed PAL and SECAM systems, and 480i based on the American NTSC system. Broadcast City
Broadcast City was the headquarters and broadcast complex of the television and radio networks owned by Roberto Benedicto, namely - Banahaw Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Radio Philippines Network (RPN) and Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation (IBC). It was located at Old Balara, Capitol Hills, Diliman, Quezon City and served as the three network's main television and radio production center and main transmission facility. It was inaugurated in July 1978 and was the most modern broadcast facility at that time. ''RPN NewsWatch'' is a Philippine flagship television news program that aired on Radio Philippines Network (RPN) from June 1, 1970, until October 29, 2012. It was the longest-running English-language newscast of RPN. The program had a complicated history, undergoing many name changes, until it was cancelled in 2012 upon Solar Entertainment Corporation's consummation of RPN's majority stake.
